Abyssal sucks on ryze because 1. He gets his magic resist from banshee veil 2. He gets his magic pen from void staff you can go abyssal on him, it's just way better to stack other defensive items (RoA, FH, BV, AA, void staff, etc.)[/quote]

I don't feel that abyssal would be very optimal on ryze. I think his q, and his AoE damage can heavily outrange abyssal aura. If you're kiting, of course.[/quote]
