I play Vayne a little bit more passiv at start and focus on farming - so my build and runes are not so good for fights <lvl 4 or so - but it's really sick during mid/lategame or after recall.
For Runes i take : Greater Quintessence of Desolation, Greater Mark of Desolation, Greater Seal of Resilience, Greater Glyph of Shielding
You can see i take no ad runes, because they fall off very soon and 25! Armor Pen (from runes)+ 6 Armor Pen + 10% from Masterys is just sick. For Masterys i take 21/9/0.
My build is:
1) 1 Dorans Blade or boots + heal -->
2) berseker greaves + Vampiric Scepter (+dorans if you need it) -->
3) BF
4) Black cleaver or zeal
5) the other one and then build Bloodthirster + Phantom
6) Infinity if needed or defensiv items
Why this build and why Black cleaver?
Infact my build is about Black cleaver and the best way to use it :)
From the start i have 31 Armor Pen withouth the 10% and Black Cleaver adds another 45 --> so i have 76 Armor pen withouth the 10% reduction. Infact it's more than enough for the most oppents beside the fact you shouldn't focus the tank during teamfights and this ammount of Armor Pen counters the most deffensivs items non tank champs will build. And Black cleaver also offers also AS - so in my oppinion its the best item for Vayne
BUT this build has a big Con :
You don't have much ad at the start! So if you are bad in last hitting you will have Problems with farming - the only thing which can help you then is to take a few points in Butcher - normally a junmgler talent.
But i don't have a problem with that because i also often play ap carrys at mid and also farm well with their! auto attacks - it's just timing.
