It's kind of an issue of, who is going to operate it and keep it under control?
We do provide a Vent server, which has text chat, you could use that.
Ideally I would love to have a chat widget built into the site that was hooked into our own members database, but the amount of resources it would take to build (and run) is not in line with the amount of demand/use it would get.
So basically, we don't have a fitting solution for on-site chat yet, but I'm open to suggestions. Or if someone is savvy in the ways of IRC and botting and feels like operating a channel they are welcome to throw their hat in.
