What Canoas said. Plus if the author is not around to spend a minute to edit/save their guide, they're also not around to answer questions and discuss things with their readers, which is important too.
This is something where we could do a follow-up email though. "Your guide has expired! <explanation of why it expired and what that means>. Click here to edit your guide and bring it back up to date!"... Maybe only targeting guides over a certain minimum score to avoid too much email spam.

Just checking up here: is this idea still going to be implemented? It seems a shame that newer builds with correct information never get looked at because the top guides have over 900 votes, and are only downvoted when people realise that
