I agree. Ezreal is much easier to use than Vayne, and your Mid choices are both pretty difficult (and his ultimate attack is just awesome). I would probably go with Yasuo over Zed if you want an easier champion, as he can counter a lot of other Mid players with his projectile blocking wall. I would certainly stick to the lane you have played with more success, and go from there. I started out playing ADC, because I generally like ranged characters on games . . . but soon, I realized that this position was my worst, by far. It might be beneficial to look at your win/loss ratio with mid and adc to see what you're best at before you start committing your precious IP to champs you will never use. Good luck, and stick with it!

When played immaculately,
Vayne will beat most other ADCS. The caveat is that small mechanical blunders with her are devastating.
Ezreal is more forgiving, and usually rewards less for excellent play in comparison.
To reiterate, ipodpulse would know which mid champion is better, and he'll probably say Zed

Zed is better but Yasuo is a bit easier mechanically. I would honestly suggest picking a different champion because those two are hard for new players to pick up.
If you want something similar, you could try
Talon.
