Meh. Am I the only one here that doesn't believe in "skill caps". A champion either clicks and is easy for me or doesnt and I can't play them for the life of me. Thresh has a "high skill cap" yet he comes naturally to me. Yet, Blitzcrank who is actually very simple to play (One skill shot does not make him hard) is beyond difficult for me to pick up. D:

I worded poorly. Thresh's biggest issue is that his ability to be effective is at least partially dependent on his allies knowledge of what his lantern can do for them. No matter how well Thresh uses his lantern, he still requires that his allies do something in order for him to be make proper use of it. This can really cause problems when you're playing with people who aren't really familiar with Tresh, which is probably a lot of people since I haven't seen him much in the past few weeks after his initial hype died down.

This argument also applies to other supports, of course, but most of the other supports suggested here have been common enough that it's reasonable to expect people to know what they do.

Blitz's skill cap isn't just about landing pulls, although landing pulls is certainly part of it. It's also about knowing when to pull and who to pull, plus knowing how to scare people off without needing to use a pull at all. I've played with Blitzs who could land pulls just fine and were still managing to be worse than useless, because they were pulling enemies that I was running from past me and guaranteeing my death; and I've played with and against Blitzs who weren't doing well because they were landing pulls on the wrong targets and or pulling enemies at the wrong times, which does things like allow my Ashe/Taric lane to get a double kill at level 2 because Blitz was using his pull at level 1 or allow free Amumu/Galio initiations.

Anyway, skill caps really do exist, although they mostly have to do with mechanical ability to use skills and knowledge of when to use them. Thresh, in particular, can suffer a bit from them, because his kit really suggests that he get in close to enemy minions to pick up souls and opens him up to free harass, and his main way of avoiding that harass means that his shield and ADC escape will be on cooldown. Managing your need to pick up souls for armor, having the only skillshot that can hit people behind you, the long windup on Q, lantern leash range uses, and a lot of the crazy stuff that can be done by timing lantern pickups and second Q activations make his skill cap really high compared to many other champions.

My posts may be long. If this bothers you, don't read them.

People act like the whole grabbing souls thing gets him killed. That's honestly about the safest thing he does. His main thing of walking up and harassing with auto attacks is more inherently dangerous to his well being the the souls ever will be. XD

First off, I love the discussion. I will post an updated list, but don't be afraid to continue discussing. I just get champs as I get IP so It may be just a little while longer before I have my whole team fleshed out and bought.

Now, having seen your discussion. I will update my list to acommodate it.

Top- Malphite
Nidalee
Zed

Jungle Maokai
Skarner
Vi

Mid Morgana
Lux
??? (since we dont like zyra here as much... but it hasn't been discussed much who should go here)

Support Sona
Leona
Zyra

ADC Ashe
Caitlyn
Miss Fortune
+++ as i learn them since i intend to main adc

Note that many of the jungle and top laners are interchangeable. Some can even go mid if needed.

Pretty good pool of champions that cover a large array of situations. for ADC, i suggest Draven incase you need a very strong early game to abuse squishy targets like Sona or Ezreal. For Mid, I would suggest a melee assassin to even it out, perhaps Akali or an AD character like Kha'Zix. I personally use Jayce as my main AD at mid.

I pretty well agree with this. Draven instead of Ashe for the early game domination. You already have Caitlyn who is good late game, so Ashe is just kinda redundant in a way. Though, if you really just like Ashe, then keep her. Cait is pretty good early game too due to her range.

Also, Akali and Diana would make good mids as they are both melee assassins. Play safe until 6 and then destroy. If they give you an early kill, they are screwed. You could also try Cassiopeia for crazy range or LeBlanc for good early game.

What? Caitlyn is considered one of the worst ADCs late game due to her lack of utility and steroids. Ashe is considered one of the most useful, due to her utility for her team late game, and her amazing ability to chase down after fights.

lol no

650 range + escape makes Caitlyn one of the better lategame ADs. She's no Kog/Vayne/Tristana but she's pretty much the next best thing.

I would rather have a Miss Fortune, Graves, Ashe, Sivir, Varus, or Twitch late game than Caitlyn. As well as those others you listed.
