I also find it weird. It should either be "how much (as in physical distance) is there between.." or "How long is the distance between..". However, the best way to say it would be "How far away from each other are you two?"

I have no idea what is going on between Nighthawk and Anna, if they have seen each other, or if in fact they know even the slightest thing about each other.
