The CGI in the prequels is godawful and overused constantly. It makes them look fake and lifeless compared to the original movies.

I think it depends on what you saw first and when. If you saw 1-3 first you think they are better due to CGI.
1-3 acting sucked horribly due to constant green screen acting (shockingly even Samuel Jackson sucked, how does THAT happen?) plus as L3K said, its totally lifeless and fake looking tho the space scenes are quit pretty.
Still enjoyed the story tho, regardless of their shortcomings.
in 7-9 Lea trains under Luke and he fails like Obi-Wan did with Anakin and she turns to the dark side to become the Empress... just my guess
Stoked the Star Wars Empire will live on, and I agree with George, Disney is the logical choice to take over the franchise.

I would have a spasm if they decided to adapt 7-9 from the Thrawn trilogy. Never gonna happen though. :c
