I decided to become a knight enchanter mage, I am almost unkillable now. This free barrier, mana regeneration and guard/barrier breaking melee ability are all amazing. I also switched out Solas for Vivienne. Vivienne has very cute interactions with Iron Bull and is less of a smart*** than Solas. Besides, I made Vivienne our barrier ***** now, yay :D
At this level (14) a lot of things seem easy now. I killed two dragons already and each interaction seems to go smoothly. Might be because the inquisition perk of +4 health potions is kinda great.
Atm I would say that if the ending is as epic as it was in Dragon Age Origins, Inquisition is definitely my favorite Dragon Age so far :D

^ Yea, Knight Enchanter is incredibly strong, and I read Vivienne can solo dragons. I made my mage a Fire/Storm mage because I found the specializations lackluster though (although Dorian is showing me that there's some potential to the necromancer thingy), I'm on my way to unlock the Rift specialization but I care little for it.
At this point I'm doing what I always do, and rotating through team mates as I explore parts of the maps that I'm 99% sure won't bring me huge approval-influencing decisions so I can hear more interactions. I hate Cole, though, or at least what he's shown me so far. The all "Spiritual Empathy" thing only showed me an emo side I can't bear, I'm sure he has some good qualities but I haven't seen dialogues that didn't put me off yet.
Sera and Iron Bull have really funny interactions :D
I'm doing the overachiever thing where I basically explore every map until there's nothing I can do to further my explorations, always trying to avoid the main story.

I haven't even seen half of what the game has and I'm already aching to try a completely different approach to an Inquisitor D:
Also, I actually think Rift Mage might be the worst option for a specialization. I can't tell for sure though, because my Solas does't cast a single spell from that tree (q.q) while my Dorian blows everything apart with spells I don't know and Walking Bomb. My only issue about the Mortaletasi is that when he has an enemy spirit under his power you don't get the wave count as cleared until the spirit fades away ( which means Rifts won't refresh or end, quest dialogues won't trigger immediately, etc).

You have to make sure in tactics that Solas is set to auto use his abilities. I had the same issue with my own character not doing a damn thing if I took control of someone else. I think Solas does pretty well as a rift mage. I personally use him, Cassandra (mostly Templar tree and taunts) and Varric.
Sidenote: Are we all playing ****ing mages?

From what I read on Reddit, and seemingly the conclusion half of us came to; Knight Enchanters are flat out OP. Bioware plans on hotfixing them, lol.
And yea, I think I may play a stabby stabby on second playthrough. (or maybe one of those drug using rogues like Sera. "Tempest", suuuuure.)
Also IMPORTANT TIP BUT SPOILERS AHEAD, but you might wanna read it ahead of time anyway to avoid this bug I found.
YOU BEEN WARNED
BTW should we all exchange origin tags? Assuming we're all PC master race? (Mines DHCGammaCrush)

I haven't tried, as I said somewhere above most things are unreadable for me. My screen definition isn't incredible by itself but they made the font size clearly for huge *** televisions so I can barely read anything that isn't the main menu. I haven't tried the Codex because I assumed it'd be tiny, I might try it later.
