Pretty true. Genetics can play a role but I don't believe there's a human being on the planet incapable of making an impact on their physical health/appearance.

(Aside from those missing limbs or with serious health conditions, etc.)

Genetics can play a role sure. In more then one way. For example the Sickle-cell disease decresses the amount of O2 your red blood cells can store. I think ppl with that could tend to be fat. Also Epigenetics play it's part it is proven that childes of ppl how had to hunger tend to get fat because thery body "remembers" what happend to the parents and try to not get into that state. But those things arn't something very commen. Unless you are from Africa you got almost no chance to have the Sickle-cell disease. I also doubt that the parents or grand parents of the most fat ppl had to hunger really hard. Maybe if they were jew improsend by the Nazis, but that isn't the majority of the fat ppl.
Also there is a gene defect that causes the body to store fat and you can't stop it but that case is not very well know as almost no one has it. I think some twins in the US do and a guy on france but I am not sure.
Thanks lgnition for the Sig.

Of course, disease and other medical issues can change the equation. My blanket statements are for those who do not have those kinds of medical issues.

No. If there was a gene that magically created fat out of nowhere then we would have solved world hunger by now. There isn't. No gene can make you fat. You get fat because you overeat, that's where the fat is coming from. A slow metabolism alone will do nothing about your fatness unless you're eating muffins like there's no tomorrow and don't move an inch.
Some genes make a predisposition towards a disease or behaviour, from being stupid to being violent to breast cancer, but a gene alone will do nothing unless you trigger it. Even the "unintelligent" genes can be suppressed and compensated by stimulating the kid while the brain is still developing, so you can't really blame such things on your genes only.
Fatness, however, does not have that excuse. It's incredibly easy to stop being fat. It's not about how slow your metabolism is, it's about how weak willing you are. If someone wants to change then it's easy to change, you just need 3 hours per week and eventually (depending on how fat you are right now) you'll cut down all that excess weight.

tl;dr: You can't blame fatness on the genes. It's incredibly easy to stop being fat. If you're fat then it's your fault and your fault only.

Well there is some gene changes that make you body store more fat then it should. Generaly speaking there are two ways. Either you body loses the stuff tat he does not need that is normal or he stores everything and even turns sugar into fat because he feels the incedebel need to store everything in fat. The problem is that it goes that far that it will kill you pretty fast. If you have that gene defect you can eat barley the minimum your body needs and do sport and still gain a bit weight as it turns even muscels into fat. This isn't something you want to do to ppl. The other thing with the Epigenetics is in everybody. But the sience still does not understand it fully. Genes we thought befor had no function are now reveald to have functions under certain stimulations and CAN lead to something but not must. We have no real clue how that works so it would be inacceptebel to try that out on ppl .

Store =/= magically create. To store you need to eat in excess.
It is physically impossible to turn muscles into fat. Fat is fat, Muscles are cells. There's no magical phenomenon that melts a cell and transform it into fat. It does not happen. When people stop working out they usually get fat because they keep eating at the same rate and the muscles start recessing. The muscle is not turned into fat, you simply eat more than you should and don't exercise.

Like I've said before, no matter what genes you have you will not gain weight as long as you don't overeat or work out to compensate the extra food. It's the first law of thermodynamics.

No not really.

It might make you consider your diet more, to avoid certain foods, or make you consider more intense exercise, but the body does need to intake food, it's designed to do that and a lot of your internal organs will fail if they aren't used often enough.

yeah, unfortunately fat isn't the only thing you need to live.. You need proteins, fibers, vitamins, iron, carbs, etc. Just because you eat more fat doesn't mean you don't need everything else.

Ehm.. you know how your body stores fat and what cells are?
Basicly everything is somekind of sugar and alcohol. muscel cells are full of proteins. They are made of Amino acid and they are not much diffrent from sugar. So yeah you body can turn you you muscels cells in fat cells not directly but true. But cataboling the muscel and then trun the stuff isn't something he works hard for. Also you should bare in minde if your body does this kind of **** he will most likly not even build up a lot of muscels. Just the needed
