If you are having a tough early game on a champ that doesn't require early game snowballing, stacking dorans items for survivability for their cheapness then swapping them out for more powerful items as the game progresses as DEWO said is definitely a viable build.

Yeah iam seeing more plp buy Radium's over Sunfire now a days mainly because of the Nerf to Stacking Sunfires and the bug fixes to the damage it dealt out ... Also alot more people are starting to udnerstand how effect Randium's promotes in Team Fights, especially on a FULL Tank Build Champion like Shen and Rammus.
