Patch Update: AD Olaf?

After watching the new patch preview and seeing they're making some changes to Olaf this got me thinking. My friend loved to play Olaf but hes never really been a "tanky" character lover. SO after listening to them they really made it sound like AD Olaf is gonna be viable. Although I have never placed my trust in Phreak on anything he says but still just asking what you all think.

Do you think AD Olaf is going to be a viable option, not alone but say you have a tank on your team.

They made him more build HP style. Since his ultimate gives your MR and Armor, its encourages you to buy more health and helps you spam E more since it doesn't hit you so hard. Haven't played him in a while but I think Watma's is good on him. Gives you lots of AD for Q and health.

Olaf has always been AD.

AD melee characters suck unless they build bulky.


They didn't really change him to make heavy AD more viable other than changing his Q, and as we know, that's not his main damage source.

To build full AD, you need two things. A gap closer, and a way of staying alive. Ranged AD have this built into one, with their range, Tryn has his E and his ult. There are no other melee carries other than perhaps Talon, but his are obvious.


Just go Atmogs/Fatma's and you're good as him. That combination will get even better when his ultimate is changed, too. Olaf has THE best synergy with Atma's Impaler in the game, in my opinion.

Unless you build 80 AD. Not hard nowadays, you'll easily get that from Wriggle's and Atmogs. This is taking into account Olaf's passive ArP, and ArP runes/Youmuu's or whatever he may have.

you need 70 ad :P

But uh, w/e, it's a blanket statement since they just build armor and it'll do like 100 damage or sth idk.

I haven't played Olaf because I felt he was a bit weak, both Top and in the Jungle. The changes seems to be okay, they did say they are buffs. He has always been AD but tanky as if you were to go GP tankplank with the Warmog's Armor and Atma's Impaler.
