You also have to let it learn things on it's own. Humans learn by doing more than anything else.
EDIT: If you do everything for a child they will never be socially functional
EDIT: If you do everything for a child they will never be socially functional
You are talking to a person that is also not been here from day one. Yet I dont follow what people say because I refuse to be apart of the bandwagon. I am able to have my own thoughts and ideas and try them out. Its not like I am going to die or get cancer if I play a champion wrong. Whats the worst that happens? 4 people you will never see again yell at you? OOOOoooOOOOOOooooo
Read the abilities and then try it out yourself. If it doesnt work for you dont play it.
Everyone here says that AS/AD Yi is the best build, yet I do WAY better with AP Yi.

You're going to an extreme. I'm not saying don't teach 'em the essentials, I'm saying that a child has to learn things on their own ALSO.
EDIT: and I didn't mean to sound like I don't want to help. Look at the Soraka guides and play with different ideas/concepts. When you find something that works for you, keep doing it. That is my advice. Take it or not, that's your choice.

Well, first of all if you let a kid do what they want with no basis they will not be socially functional. The only reason kids can be socially functional is because the parent teaches them all the essentials to make friends (hopefully). Don't lie, don't steal, don't hit anyone, etc. But regardless, I'm talking about a baby. like, between the years 1-2. Babies can't think for themselves.
That has nothing to do with anything that is on topic here.
I assume that you are able to read since you are here. Therefor read the abilities of the champion you want to focus on. Then look at the items that go along with that. You dont need someone else to tell you how to play a game. Words only go so far, but what you dont realize is that most of the guides say what is THEY think is the best, but leave out things that are actually important such as the situation items.
That is the stuff you need to learn on your own, how do you do that you ask? Yes I knew you would ask that, you play you read and you pay attention to what you do in games. Find your mistakes and change what you are doing. If you cant find the solution THEN you ask for help with that. You are expecting us to teach you how to play a game that has so many options its impossible to have the correct answer.
Use your head and use your logic, it will get you alot farther.
No one but you is arguing. You are looking for an answer that isnt there. Im sorry that the simple term "Its best to play how your playstyle fits" is to hard of a concept for you. You refuse to understand that there are multipul answers to the questions you are asking.

Alright, you don't want to help, it's ok. I'm not going to agree with you, so you might as well stop arguing.
My advice: find a core build you think will work, play with adding different items, look at the guides, and decide what works the best for your playstyle.

Why play an support if you don't want to play like one? Support champions aren't farming for a reason. Well its a great fun build while screwing around in normal or practice games, but would you be happy as an lets say Ashe or Caitlyn if your support would take your farm? Playing a support champion is all about being selfless and a team player. Why not help your teammate farm more, why not gain ward control? I'm pretty sure a support who controls the map with wards and oracle is much better then a farmed support who isn't able to farm to get to his important items and gain map control at the same time.
Anyways people saying everybody needs to find his own way of playing are right to some extent. It's really useful if you go out there and go figure things out yourself. But don't try to go against the mainstream just because you want to go against it. If it's actually better, go ahead and do it, but if it's just inferior why even consider it. It's not like AP Soraka can be better in some situations, Support Soraka is just better through the roof.

People play champs a certain way because it works for them. Not because its the best. That is the bandwagon thing to do, a plague of this site. Play how you want to play and build how you want to play to fit your play style. Just because it works for someone else doesnt mean it will for you.
Ok, if I was any good at this game I would agree, but I should let you know that I'm bad at this game, only champion I can play well is sona. I'm a baby still learning. You wouldn't let a baby do what it wants and find out what's best, because it doesn't know what is right v wrong, what really works and what doesn't.
