My buddy plays AD Soraka when we tri-que for 5s...Let's say that we haven't lost a game yet with him going this route. Support champs are meant to be solid without farm thus their heals are quite strong without any AP items. It's truly an imbalance as well when a Soraka doesn't even have to be near her teammates and can still turn the tide of a fight with Wish. Granted Karthas can be said to do the same with his ulti but he is a champ that should be in a team fight. I'm not saying Wish needs to be changed persay but a global heal that doesn't need some sort of AP boost is OP compared to other support champs who have to be in striking distance of their opponents and their team to bring any kind of benefit imho.

Let's remember that tanks also don't need as much farm, and between the tank and Soraka: it's better to give Soraka that farm because better items give her better healing.

What...

Tanks need farm. Show me a tank that can tank with no health / resistances (no Alistar with his ult on doesn't count).

A tank is as much a support as a healer is. Either you know that most people playing supports farm anyways and just wish they didn't or you really do think they shouldn't and should therefore include ALL TYPES of supportive characters in your "no farming allowed" ban.

EDIT: Let's be honest here, most of us wish the supports laning with us wouldn't farm, but farm when we play supports because it's inconvenient not to.

This thread is really insightful, should have it stickied or something.

But anyways, building AP on Soraka will only increase healing by ____. Only problem is that it takes a lot of gold to do an AP build, and most consider it most efficient when the gold goes to your carry/laning partner. You also seem to be super squishy only getting AP items. No point in getting AA when Soraka is self-sufficient, and you can get the deathcap before you get the full buff from AA (i'd think).

^^^ what I learned

Some questions: What's a good build for Soraka, the walking heal bot with a 3 second silence? I'm still torn on what to do

You do what you want to do. You play how you want to play. You build how you want to build.
If it doesnt work out, find out what went wrong and do changes to that. Its going to take you a ton of games to figure out what is going wrong tho.

Dont listen to what people tell you to do, do what you want and play how you want.

Well the point of asking is that people have already played those ton of games, people already know what is best, so rather than waste my time I'd love to catch up with the meta game and work off what people think is the best, instead of starting at square one.

People play champs a certain way because it works for them. Not because its the best. That is the bandwagon thing to do, a plague of this site. Play how you want to play and build how you want to play to fit your play style. Just because it works for someone else doesnt mean it will for you.

What works best for one person isn't necessarily the same as what works best for another person. There's nothing wrong with asking other people for advice, but think for yourself. Only you know what's best for you.
