Scrax is right, I use FRAPS and record at around 40FPS. Problem is my computer can't run a whole game on record since it'll drop to 5-10FPS for the rest of recording; hence why I ran two games. lol

I have
IBM Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 (59-024256) with Core 2 Duo T6500 (2.1GHz, FSB 800Mhz), 3GB of DDR3 1066 MHz and GF 130M GT 512 GDDR3.

Tried FRAPS, and tbh i have no idea how to fraps correctly not to loose too much.

I usualy have 100fps and 50-60fps when mobs spawn. I play on 1280x1024 with Medium/no shadows quality, and still frapsing is pain in the ***... Any tips?
Did i help you? Click that +Rep

Thanks to jhoijhoi for the sig!

It's probably the processor, when I record I can record well, but after maybe 20-25 minutes of on and off recording, I drop frames like a mother since FRAPS is a hog when it comes to power.

Yep. When FRAPSing on and off it will eventually "fatigue" your processor. When that happens I often just restart whatever I am FRAPSing (of course, if it's a game.. Just wait it out. It'll get better) and FRAPS itself.

But as Diesel says, FRAPS is a mother f*er when it comes to leeching power. Thats mainly because FRAPS doesn't use any form of encoder when rendering your clips (thats also why the clips are so damn large) which takes more from your computer.

WeGame (it's free!), on the other hand, got this. With a little loss in quality but a huge gain in power, this is an excellent second-choice when it comes to recording.

Also, putting FRAPS on half-size and not recording sound or enabling "Force lossless RGB capture" will enhance the overall performance when recording. I also go with "Lock framerate" as it somewhat makes it more stable for me.

Play around with the settings :)

Problem with wegame is that without paying it appears it is in a format that only can be uploaded/viewed from the wegame site if you do not pay for a subscription (they seem vague on the free version specs). I really want my own vids to put on youtube or hotlink as I wish.

What does half-size do exactly? My program has that as well and I was not sure if it literally meant it would only capture half the screen or what.
From more reading it sounds like encoders can actually cause more lag because while capturing it also is compressing the data, but then you later have to encode them so they are not massive files. Even encoded(with a faster but lower compression encoder) at just meh quality a 10-12 min vid was 500MB which is a pretty hefty file even when streaming on not uber internet.

Yeah, just tried WeGame. If you try to record snippets of a 45-minute game, if the files become to big, it will literally crash your Computer's "My Videos" folder window and you will not be able to access it. Making it an absolute B to delete and maintain control of your computer.

Yeah, uninstalling now...
