League of Legends (LoL) Question: Are people more accepting in League these days?

Are people more accepting in League these days?

It seemed like in S2, if you tried to play an AD carry champ anywhere outside bot lane you were a troll, try to play a mage at top? Troll. The scenarios go on.

But I've noticed lately that people don't really give a **** where you go as long as your champ is a strong pick and you won't be an obvious liability. People get away with things that were deemed trollish before like mid Quinn or Jarvan IV, or top Swain.

So my question is, are people just becoming more accepting or is the meta shifting to favor the element of surprise in these picks?

Higher elo players don't give as many ***** about meta picks as bronze/silver. Paradoxical but true.

It's probably a combination of multiple factors (including metashifts, MMR and pro-plays).

The way I personally see it, if someone does an unconventional pick, I know that they're my elo, so they know what they're doing just as much as I do and I have no business telling them they shouldn't do it unless it's something atrocious like support Master Yi.

Why do you think that is? Do they see the merit of the picks better?

    Neither.

High elo players don't give a **** about what you play, especially in normals.

In ranked though, they still don't give a **** but if you're doing something totally stupid for no you will get flamed for it, i.e. Jungle Caitlyn.

High elo players know to how to think outside the box and can see the potential of certain picks.

IMO, ppl don't change, not easily at least. They still think it's trolling but after they were wrong a couple of times or have it backfire(i.e afk, intentional feeding..), they learn to stop spewing **** until it's just to do so.

They heard that Swain was played at top by [INSERT CHALLENGER PLAYER NAME HERE] so they immediately think it's the bestest way to play it.

The point is that people nowdays watch more streams and we have probuilds so players can see how high elo players play the champion you might want to test or something. If they succeed, people will try it, a lot.

I think you're just getting more wins under your belt and getting matched with more mature and serious players xD

I still get called a troll on my eune lvl 30 smurf if I wanna play vayne or quinn top or jungle gragas

On my main account I can play whatever and nobody cares as long as I play well, even if I do play a weak champ :3
