League of Legends (LoL) Question: Is annie op?

    Is annie op?

Last couple of games, I've noticed a rise in number of annie players. These players have ended up with more than 20 kills, EVERY SINGLE GAME. That makes me wonder, is she really op?

P.S. I am in silver, if that's of any relevance

Annie is not overpowered per say, but she's very easy to use and many people tend to underestimate her damage output, (probably, because she's a sweet little girl) often leading to her getting fed.

That being said, if almost any champion gets 12 or more kills, they will seem completely overpowered.

Annie is highly immobile champion with mediocre range, so she can easily get punished by junglers like: Lee Sin, Jarvan IV, Xin Zhao.

    or

long range mid laners like: Syndra, Xerath.

And yes, you being silver might have something to do with Annie(s) performing extremely well in your games.

She's really strong for counter-engage, which is why she does well against assassins that require them to get up close, like Zed or even Fizz. She also has a relatively diverse build path by going full nuke or offtanky. Being hard to kill yet hitting like a truck is why Annie is good.

Most major problem is, as Levask pointed out, her relatively short range, leaving her punishable by long-range mages in lane or hard-engage champions that she can't zero out.

Better than any kids I've seen. And I hate kids. It says so in my League of LoL profile thingy.

"...and many people tend to underestimate her damage output, (probably, because she's a sweet little girl)..."

First off; that tends to remind me of someone.........someone that looks like a rat, usually referred to as the devil, has an ungodly amount of mushrooms.....damnit! Who is that?

Secondly; how is she sweet? She's cute, I'll give her that, but sweet? Your talking about a pyromaniac two year old that apparently really enjoys the smell of burning human flesh. Again, how is that sweet?

I wouldn't say she's OP compared to some of the more "meta" characters like Syndra or Xerath as mentioned already. But, due to skill differences between leagues, these meta characters probably aren't being used to their full potential in lower leagues.

Annie is a pretty low skill cap champion, put simply. This leads to her being a pretty safe pick to destroy players in said leagues who try to follow the pros and play high skill cap champions without really knowing how to use them efficiently / correctly. She loses a lot of effectiveness against a player who knows Annie's limits (such as her range, burst damage, etc.) and being ready for her flash combo.

Also, if it's any help, ganks will hurt her severely if successful (waste her flash, bring her low, kill her, etc.) She has a hard time bursting opponents if she's behind due to having lower gold > less ap and her opponent probably having more hp with level scaling and such. Also, ofc she'll be easier to kill with her opponent being ahead. Banshee's Veil will make her life miserable most of the time as well.

She is depending on how you build her, say if she rushes Rabadons and DFG then she will probably walk around nuking people left and right. If she builds like the recommended build in order, which most people in silver/bronze will do then no she isnt. The Annies you played with/against probably went off the recommended build and went straight to nuking people. Hope this helps!

Annie is really strong and i think many underestimate her. But i wouldn't consider her as OP although she can snowball very hard.
Her ability Summon: Tibbers is really great in combination with her passive Pyromania to start a teamfight.
Nonetheless you can counter her very hard with Banshee's Veil, Quicksilver Sash and Zhonya's Hourglass.
And she is still a champ you don't see often (at least i don't).
Yes she does a quite amount of damage and is a really great champ for beginners. If we compare Annie with Veigar, we can see that Veigar is really OP. With Annie you can't feed and still win your lane (only if you are playing against an AP Mid).
Another point is (that includes Veigar aswell) the remove of Deathfire Grasp.
She is still strong even without that item.
Summary: I won't say she is OP but a good Champion to win a game :D

many people under estimate annie's damage. she can do a great deal of damage quickly with a small amount of ability power, for example 150AP. though 150AP may not seem like much she seems to have a decent amount of damage output. the image of annie is not very intimidating and often does not seem like a threat which leads other players to act reckless and not think about their actions. some people may not believe this but in many combat and strategy based games. looks mean a lot. when i say that i mean, when you look at a little girl what do you expect? frail? weak? and anything but spooky? well this is where annie can be useful in lower ELOs, people that are inexperienced with annie or the game in general will underestimate her and just spoon feed her kills. this is why you have been seeing annie's get fed. they are appearing more often because players in your eELO are learning how powerful she really is but they also don't realize how week she is also. she can get harassed by mobile champs, long range champs and champs that cancel abilities like nocturne.

Kind of. The Tibbers can get really OP. But, against some better lane bullying champions for mid like Twisted Fate or AP Varus, she's got not as much of a chance to hard carry. It's general principle, but still. But against some meta mids, like even Zed or Yasuo even, she can get that way. The Annie can bully them, using her stun and high damage AP abilities (high for early game).

I think so, but not to the point that she ruins the game. She's incredibly easy, with little to no mana problems, has low risk, high reward abilities, and has well above average range.

Compared to say Anivia, who's also pretty easy, she has even higher range, more AoE damage, not as much but stronger CC, and most notably, a huge discrepancy in the amount of mana that they go through.

There are various champs that defeat Annie, most of them longer range than her. Lux, Orianna, Xerath, Syndra, Ziggs, they can all destroy her. Flash ult is your only change against them, and if they played correctly you've been denied CS and sent base plenty of times anyway.

She is good against simile range/lower range champs because they get outranged when they go to farm, eating her stun and combo, and she can harass them with autos with greater ease.

Fizz is really bad against Annie. It's really hard to mess that lane up as Annie.

She only can't with them if they can go untargetable or blink back like Zed or LeBlanc, and even then, that's only for escaping. Run MS quints. My winrate with Anivia 5s mid is 69%. I'm gonna go with the champ being easy more than me being that good. Fizz is the only person she really can't beat.

Edit: "She" in the last sentence refers to Anivia. Sorry for the confusion.

Annie has a lot of risk, she has no mobility so she can be picked up easily or ganked to oblivion as long as the jungler isn't stupid enough to gank her with low hp, specially post 6.

Anivia isn't even remotely easy as a champion, she has the slowest particle ability in the game (Q) which demands skilled players to pop for twice the damage and her wall requires a lot of intelligence to use. She's also pretty immobile and can't deal well with assassins or divers.

A safe midlaner is a laner that can deal well with ganks and handles well a lot of laners. This includes - and isn't restricted to - LeBlanc (because of Distortion and a lot of lane power), post-6 Kassadin (riftwalk and also pretty good laner), post-6 Ahri ( Spirit Rush, manageable mana costs, passive), Zed (W, great trading power, strong lane presence), Morgana (not a common midlaner nowadays, but she can pretty much just cast W and pop E if ganked, plus her ult + Q peel really well), among others.
