Description

List related to bottom lane support champions which I picked and/or played against across casuals and low elo matches.
1

S

Supports tiered here seem to always work (and as a prize their ban rates are usually quite high.)

2

A

Good picks for most matches.

3

B

They tend to work, but require more planning ahead - since that is not guaranteed, their results may vary a lot.

4

C

Some of them can shine, some not.

5

D

Rely more on the multiple skills from the player side (mechanics, awareness, vision, strategy, "what's gonna happen after laning phase?"), not only that but this question can be redirected at every and each support at any moment during draft/champion selection: "Does this champion bring anything to my team? If I'm picking a mage as support, it won't be uncommon having a hard time to peel for my carries (and myself.) Is there any other champion in our team who's able to do that? Or the hell those peels and we win by brute force and period/full stop-point (question yourself again in this very case: are we able to?)"

6

E

Questionable viables who tend to struggle after laning phase - Not only these, but many listed bellow C can steal cs from their carries and/or ruin that so patiently done (while maybe not that perfect, yet still somewhat working) freeze on the lane.

7

F

Not sure if they are really viable... Smells like someone is pick-filling an autopick-filler?

8

Z

Shouldn't ever... Whether because of the champion or, in some two specific cases bellow, due to their playerbase. Maybe tried as an OFFMETA HOTSTUFF  seen on a clickbait youtube "ULTIMATE guide", or just an autofiller who will play their champion no matter what, while not even being that good to afford themselves the excuse of being ay one-trick poney. Also, as far as I'm able to understand, one of the main reasons folks one-trick a champion has to do with the fact that once you've mastered your poney to a point they become an extension of your muscles and neurons, you, now, are free to read enemies whether to know when it's time to save your arse or to breach and sabotage their silly plays (punishing mistakes included.)

In which rank is Poppy? I played her lately a lot in top and I wondered if she is good as a support, but I dont see her on this list.

Very interesting list. This could be turned into a guide instead, because lots of comments you put there. I love Malphite, but I'm not sure he's that good as a support anymore, everyone already knows what he does and focuses him down like crazy (in contrast, Maokai works much better due to being a quite annoying damage soaking hard-CC machine,) although you made it clear it's only for low elo... It was good though seeing Rock-solid making a brief comeback to meta (shame it won't last)

Edit: Luckily I was wrong - seems Malph will be buffed on 10.22.

Nice job on the tier list, very well-formatted! I'd say that one of the main things I disagree with here is Veigar being E tier, though that really is just personal preference. I feel like there could also be someone up in S tier with Morgana (other than Seraphine).
What would you say casuals and low elo should play actual supports, or more something like glass cannon supports (i.e. Veigar or Lux full AP).

Hey there @ TheInkKingLoL! Cheers for your words! ^^

You def. got it mate, it's more personal preference. I, for instance, never played a Veigar as a supp. Reason I placed him there (maybe too low, uh? Gonna take your input into consideration!) is because most Veigars I faced ended up being only weak cage-bots who were quite often abused by the enemy team even when having allies by their sides! Veigar's cage has a quite long cooldown, and if you make a mistake your duo will be open for all-ins and ganks, and depending on how your enemies react, those 18/16.5/15 seconds may feel like an eternity. But, there's always a but - heh - supposing that your team is ahead and you were able to put your hands on part of that shiny glittering gold, you might be able to purchase some of your expensive (core) items. Also, since is not that uncommon a match at lower elos to last, like, forever, as the clock ticks, eventually everyone will ding 18 and will have earned enough to buy at least core items. If you feel confident at him, give it go. Same is true with Lux.

Just keep in mind that once you climb up ranks, matches tend to be shorter - sometimes reaching the end before you even finished your second supp item. In such cases, Veigar more often than Lux, as she has more skills related to peel/protection and crowd control, will feel quite lackluster. What do you think?

The advantage of going with "traditional" utility supports is that they don't require much (gold) to perform their deeds.
I think that if you're going to play at really low elos, sometimes a tank support can be more effective, as they don't require much gold either, have higher chances of surving clashes due to the fact of naturally being beefier and their actions can always be noticed (and make a difference), since some bring a kit which renders them as CC-machines, they are good for engages (in fact some of them are usually the ones expected to engage!) as well as for disengages (when your team needs a break in order to reposition themselves, to survive, to switch their focus onto more important matters/objectives, etc.)

Now if you're really inclined to play ap supports, have you ever tried Brand or Zyra? Brand can be a nightmare for the enemy team, a good Brand is able to dish out tons of (AoE) damage, and Zyra can CC chain her enemies while doing some quite noticeable AOE AP damage (somewhat similar to a Morgana supp but even more "intense".)

Ah! And in order not to make Morgana feel that lonely up there heh (since Seraphine hasn't made into live yet), I considered (and still been thinking about it) promoting Leona. As her kit is quite simple, although very effective for sure, allowing her to easily deliver her full combo. That and the fact that she isn't punished that much whether behind - although being ahead or behind is something questionable when it comes to supports. When a support is considered "behind", it usually means that they are way behind compared with the enemy team, like not even being able to finish their first item.

Edit: I would like to add that those tanks whom I placed at tier A aren't necessarily "classic" supps - Ornn for instance -, yet all of them may do the trick as despite being meatshields (if you build them to be so), at least at earlier leavels, all of them have threat potential (it reads: they can obliterate squishes guaranteed at levels 2 and 3 - by guaranteed I mean if odds are in your favor, of course. :)

I like your tiers. Although I haven't played all of those champions, but I can relate to those I've played against, and I can specially relate to those champions that I've played.. So, you did a good job here! It's really an interesting list :>
Good luck :>

@Doody_tco, cheers a bunch! I'm truly glad that you're able to relate to the champions and the divisions the way I set on this list. Honestly, I decided to make this list because I thought that by taking a more empiric/personal approach rather than just copying and pasting those pro-tiers lists found everywhere (nothing against them though), I could bring my Elo mates some insight about what our "low" (duh, labels...) reality revolves around, since what works for pros may not work for us - and vice-versa. ;)
