"A good gank setup is any reliable chained CC, like Frenzying Taunt into Aqua Prison or Dark Binding. Bad gank setup is the absense of this, like a Kassadin mid, Soraka/Kog'Maw bot or Garen top.

But you can take these factors into account:
- Does your jungle matchup outfarm you? Then you must have succesfull ganks early to be impactful, so you might consider early boots or even rush boots of mobility.

"I think we have different definitions of scaling. Spiked shell turns armor into on-hit damage, and any source of on-hit damage scales with any source of attack speed.
Just because an ability only has either AD or AP ratioes, doesn't mean it doesn't scale with other things.
