What's up, MobaFire? Everyone dreams about what they would do if they somehow came across / stole / inherited /won a large sum of money. I have a decent amount of money in the bank for a twenty year old, non-working, full-time university student in Australia (who's future career as a secondary education teacher will only roughly give $40k per year if lucky), but sometimes I like to indulge myself with thoughts of what I would do with $10 million.

(why does Australian currency look like Monopoly money?)

jhoijhoi's wish list

#1 // The first thing I think of when I pretend I have a ****-load of money is university. Hence my first spending spree would involve paying all my university debts, paying off Warlemming's university debts, paying off Patch's Tafe debts and paying for my sister's university fees (even though she's only just started). This includes textbooks and course fees for the full duration of our university lives. Already this will take off around $90k (ninety thousand) from my $10 million.
Estimated Cost: $90 000
Remaining Cash: $9 910 000

#2 // Immediately after I secure the future of the loved ones I live with, I cast my mind to the loved ones I left when moved out of home, straight after year 12. I would spare no expense helping my dad fix up his house. For the last few years he has been building his own home from scratch, by himself; a beautiful American barn-style estate, two stories, two bathrooms, four bedrooms, two lounge rooms, one kitchen, one entertainment centre and a huge "ballroom" central area that can easily fit tabletop tennis and a pool table.
_____The house is fantastic even unfinished. It has so much potential to be one of the best houses in his rural area. Once the preliminaries are completed (tiling, floorboards, painting - which is all that really needs to be done now), it will be a BALL furnishing the place. I will literally drag all his old furniture out and burn it for new stuff ^^ I will also give dad enough money to pay off anything he hasn't paid off (mortgage?) and pay for an official turning lane onto his property (council won't make one for him, despite the fact they own the land outside his 42 acre property).
Estimated Cost: $200 000
Remaining Cash: $9 710 000

#3 // Now my mind travels to my mother and her husband (my step dad), and their son (my half-brother). They are anything but poor and Roman is spoiled rotten. However, they both work very hard in their respective fields to earn the money they have. I know Roman already has a trust fund started when he was born and I can only imagine how much money he will receive when he turns 18 or 21. As such, I don't believe they need much from me, but I love my mum to death and she deserves the best in life. I can't buy them anything in terms of material goods, because believe me, no matter how good I think the deal is, they could probably get it at half the price somewhere else.
_____As such, I probably will just give them money to buy or save or do whatever they want with. I don't want to give them too much, but I don't want to give them too little. Regardless of how much I would give them, I would never let them know the full extent of how much money I had ^^
Estimated Cost: $300 000 (that's #100k each)
Remaining Cash: $9 410 000

#4 // When one comes into money, either by planning, earning or luck, there is one golden rule that should be abided at all costs. Do not keep giving without saving some for yourself. This may sound selfish, but all I can think of is how many f*cking relatives I have and how much I'd be obliged to give as I am actually a very generous person. So before I squander money away on people who will spend it on new mobile phones, clothes, jewellery and most likely other mundane things they don't need, I am putting away $5 million into the bank. This nest egg will ensure that no matter what happens to me, Patch or Warlemming, we will always have something to fall back on. And eventually, we could live off the interest :P
Estimated Cost: $5 million
Remaining Cash: $4 410 000

#5 // I live in Brisbane, and one of my dreams revolves around owning hot property near universities. Having moved five times in the last four years, I know how money exchanges hands in the form of rent, truck hire, bond cleans etc etc etc. I want to be a property tycoon, and with a little luck, this can occur. So first things first, Patch, Warlemming, Azrael and myself need a house to live in, with a spare room for an office. If possible this house will be located around Red Hill/Kelvin Grove so we can attend university (within walking distance). A house that close to the university, in a good location, is around $800 000. And that's without dealing with furnishing it and making it a suitable living environment.
_____ I would set aside $1.5 million dollars to deal with 1) Buying a house for us to live in, and 2) Investing in one or two dilapidated properties in the same area (including fixing them up).
Estimated Cost: $1.5 million
Remaining Cash: $2 910 000

And then? // What do I do with the remaining ~$3 million dollars? I'll donate a bit to charity - RSPCA. I'll give a little to my relatives (and Patch/War's relatives), probably a few thousand each, if that. We'd also go on a holiday once Azrael hits 18 or 21, depending on where we decide to go.
_____ Regardless of the fact that there's probably around $6 million left over to spend, I'd more than likely still finish my university degree and go on to teach students English and Science. I'd probably, now that I think about it, spend some money on upgrading our computer devices and buying a sturdy fence around out new home so I can have a ****ing puppy. There are a lot of little things I could list, like upgrading my wardrobe, getting a hair cut and paying for a maid to vaccum the floors every second day. But I think I've talked long enough on this subject.

So tell me, MobaFire. // What's your dream?
