"Both of those look good. Malphite can at least hold his own in a lane better than Zil. Maybe you could also look at Chogath for a tank? He can hold his own in a solo lane and push creep waves well. "

"Anivia is the most useful probably, she has good damage and CC. It might take you a few games to get decent with her, and she is the hardest to play of the 3, but still not too hard.
Vlad is also good, fun, and easy to use. Vlad is also very survivable so he's good for newer players.
