"Hairsy: If you're having a terrible laning phase and choose to build Chalice of Harmony, it's probably all right to upgrade it to Athene's, though keep in mind it's a defensive option designed to improve your late game at the expense of your early AP.

"The Red Captain: Greater Mark of Insight is more important for early harass damage against champions. You won't be able to get many autoattacks off in the early game, which is when runes are the most useful. Destruction marks are okay as well though.
