Views: 3367 AD Carry Itemization Theorycraft

Original post here. Supposedly, this is the optimal way to build each ADC; while his theorycraft makes sense, it feels wrong to me, though I can't quite put my finger on it. Any thoughts?

BotRK on Trist is a thing because it largely makes up for her godawful mid-game.
Seriously, I can't understand people that say that lol. Please read my way of thinking and tell me how it's wrong. Botrk is strong because even though it doesn't give much damage increase for its cost, it gives you more ability to kite, high lifesteal, and a great damage increase against health stackers.
Guess what I'm gonna say. Enemies won't have high HP at the point you'll get Botrk. Shocking! Right? So you get a very subpar damage increase, (unnecessarily huge amounts of) lifesteal and a slow for 3k+ gold. Well yeah, a slow is great but you can already kite more than fine by yourself this early in the game AND using money to buy a slow instead of damage isn't going to 'help your terrible mid game'.
ALSO, since Tristana will often use her spells at the beginning of a fight to do damage, she will make even less use of the % of current HP passive on Botrk.

I still prefer Phantom dancer over Shiv on a lot of those. But then, Im a terrible adc, so my opinion is moot.
doesnt matter how good you are, im worse. i usually dont come further than phantomdancer(when i get there, its already too late because the enemy has at least one inhib :D).i dont really try hard to learn them and im pretty sure i have the wrong attitude. im usually like: ok, im adc, so my autoattacks deal most of my dmg. then: wtf, they dont deal dmg(i try to lasthit a minion at half health here because im adc and i deal dmg).
then: wtf my abilities have no dmg too(i try to harass here) and have ridiculously long cds.
then: im playing safe and farm all the time. i get my bf sword when the other adc has bt/ie because he has kills and i feed(as the rest of my team)
then: we loose.
this was my experience in about 2 games in season 3. both on a smurf because i wouldnt survive on my real acc anyway :D this also explains my bad teammates :)
i think maybe it could be useful to learn adc, but doesnt matter. adcs suck, i outdamage them anyway as lategame ryze :DD
I wouldn't build BotRK on Tristana first item, and I would definitely build IE on Cait first. I like Shiv as an item, but I feel the ability to phase through minions is much more valuable to an ADC. I find it interesting that there is no mention of Black Cleaver, which is situational, but still good on AoE AD champions, like MF.

No, you're right, PD is generally 'better' in that Shiv's effectiveness falls off later in the game and PD does not. I really don't know why he likes Shiv so much.
I feel like in general he makes a lot of assumptions. For example, although Caitlyn's kit does scale pretty well with AD she has 650 range, becomes completely autoattack-centric in most teamfights and her ult is not especially useful during them. Hence, IE first is good on her.
He didn't even mention Triforce for Ezreal either even though it's back to being a good item for him. <.<
