Basically a note for myself. Or YMV.

The ranked season kicked off in 2016 on January 2016. Riot warned everyone that the would probably end up lower than the did last year. Okay fine, everyone ends up lower. Good to know where to set the bar.

Placements were brutal. I went 3-7 and 2-8 on two different accounts respectively.

I'm sure there were any number of reasons for this. I've touched on some of my thoughts around this in previous posts so I'm not going to go over them again here.

Suffice to say I didn't feel like things smoothed out until late February. So I'm going to try to use that as my watermark for next season's placements matches and do them in late February or early March.

I found climbing in preseason to be fairly easy in the sense I was making continuous progress. Now, that doesn't help your earn ranked rewards, but it potentially suggests that people aren't try hardening as much in preseason, so it is a good time to get some ranked practice on champions that you are thinking about adding to your pool, trying out different strats, and getting used to whatever crazy changes they've made to perhaps even whole categories of champions (marksmen, juggernauts, etc.,.), while still being in a ranked environment.
