I really don't think Forsaken Olaf and Forsaken Jayce are a part of the same series.

Forsaken Jayce was released as part of the May the Fourth joke that Star Wars fans make, and Forsaken Olaf wasn't. Olaf doesn't have any ties to Star Wars either. The only thing they share is a colour scheme, and that's likely coincidental.

3 of the skins that you say aren't from a series are in fact, from a series.
And the reason they're from a series is because after 450 skin ideas Riot is completely out of ideas, so stop complaining.

The ones I'm referring to are: Forsaken Jayce
(There was a Forsaken Olaf skin at some point way back)
Knockout Lee Sin (Boom Boom Blitz has boxing gloves might as well just call it a series)
Primetime Draven (Forecast Janna is a skin so I'm calling this a series as well because it is)

And the idea for Dunkmaster Darius is about 2 years old.

You're pushing it by saying Primetime Draven is in the same series as Forecast Janna.

Also, I think the levels of immorality in this thread are astounding. You'd really throw a child off a boat for your own luggage? Wow.

Forsaken Jayce is clearly a Sith Lord ._. it was even released on May the Fourth....if anything it's a companion to Chosen Master Yi .

I think understand what you're getting at when you dislike them milking a series. Is it that you feel like they aren't putting as much effort into the skins because there's less conceptualising, and instead they just simply have an essentially guaranteed future skin for all Ionian champions?
It's a combination of factors. I feel like it's pretty cheap to turn everything into a series so you don't have to put as much effort in to begin with. That being said, Karma hadn't gotten a new skin besides the free one with her rework (which is, perhaps, my favorite one) since her release, they couldn't even be bothered to update the splash arts with the Chinese ones for the skins she has that have really meh splash arts. That then feels really underwhelming when the skin they finally give her turns out to be a skin a bunch of other champions are likely to get. Now Irelia's probably due for a skin, as well, but it woulda been nicer to see something original for both of them. I feel like series skins are fine when it's a champion who already has a decent number of skins ( Riot Kayle ), but if a champion has been pretty much off the new skin radar since their release, it's a bit irritating when the one skin they do finally get is just part of a matched set.

I'm just going to throw this out there.

Surely, they would figure out which champions need skins and release a series around them, and not the other way around.

Basically MOBAFire.

They simply look at opportunity. Reds have posted many times about how skin ideas come about is through simple brainstorming and looking at opportunities. If they see a skin idea which will be fantastic, whether it is an original skin or a part of a series, they will design, conceptualise and hopefully start to develop it.

I'd imagine that the first skin in a series would be based on what champion could do with a skin, and then subsequent skins in the series, if it does become a series, are based on what champions would fit well within that series.
