Insects/arachnids/ect contain a much higher percentage of protein than most red meat does and they're far less expensive to keep besides. I had originally intended to just touch up the roots with the same color I'd dyed it before but they didn't have that. I took a gamble by just dying all of it with a different color and, while I like this color better than the more purple-y red because it seems to suit my skin's undertone better, this color is likely not something I could replicate.[/quote]

Regarding insect eating, none of the locals at that shit. The only people that were eating it were tourists posing for photos, and doing it under peer pressure.[/quote]

Do you have any idea of how many people wish they had black hair? Treasure it damn it! Also, the culture around women coloring their hair constantly is really bothering me. My sister did the same thing. She had beautiful natural hair, but now she's been constantly coloring it for almost a decade and it's just.. bland. I'd understand it if you started getting white hairs, but before that? Fuck that shit.[/quote]

[/quote] In fact, I was told that locals are told to actively avoid that kind of stuff. It's just there to exploit the generalised Western view of Asian cuisine, that we eat everything, and make a substantial amount of money. The things there were also fairly expensive for Asian pricing standards as well, because they know that tourists will still buy that shit. A big scorpion on a skewer was about 50 RMB, which translates to about $10 AUD. For a skewer with one fucking scorpion on it, that's a really cost inefficient purchase, especially for locals. Generally though, the whole culture of eating insects is false with some exceptions (there's like this sort of grub that I saw quite a few people eating). Eating all the weird animals though is very common. You can expect to find turtle and frog and other animals of the sort served up in restaurants fairly often. The most you'll probably see in a restaurant that isn't catered to tourists are sea worms, possibly water cockroaches.[/quote]
