Other ADC's can work, but I don't have much experience with those. But I do know for sure that all the ones Fox mentioned (except maybe Cait because I haven't seen her mid in ages and can't remember how my own Cait mid experience ages ago went) can work. The best IMO are 
Varus, Ezreal, Corki and Graves.

I sometimes play something random (like Blitzcrank top, Blitzcrank jungle, Riven, Quinn, Taric, Gnar, whatever) but I usually play a champion I know I'm relatively good at because, let's face it, you're all better anyway. I don't take the games very seriously, but I don't want to ruin the game for my teammates by simply playing trashy even for my standards.
I didn't mind playing against Vapora's Talon either by the way. We had our share of good players, we didn't get walked over or anything.
I know there are some games where I hardly say anything, that is usually because I'm tryharding to survive a lane. I think we should all be allowed to tryhard a lane from time to time. We usually talk more after a game, which I think is fine.
In the end I guess it partly comes down to being sportsmanlike, which is something we can all keep in mind while playing. But I honestly enjoy playing the inhouses whenever I have the time, so I can't completely relate to some of the things said in this thread so far.

It was a 4v5, Levask was dc'd for the end of the game. We were still stronger in straight up 4v5 teamfights, but most of them started with one or two of us getting caught/fighting on their own while I was getting either zoned or assassinated by the full AD Lee Sin, so most fights were either 3v4, with our strongest champion not in the fight, or a 2v5 followed by another 2v5 when the other 2 died and the 5 advanced onto the rest of us.
