so my team and i signed up for this NA mobafire tounry, a month ago..we were given 4 different starting dates..and the times were changed 5 TIMES before they settled with what they wanted. it is INSANELY inconvenient for players to deal with this when we have members of a team trying to work around schedues and whatnot...PICK A DAY, PICK A TIME, AND STICK WITH IT!! you also need to make a tournament balance system where players are playing against other people of the same rank/skill level.. its ****ing outrageous to me that we waited 5 additional hours, to play 1 match and we get pitted against 5 platinum ranked players who have been playing for years. WHAT CHANCE DO WE HAVE?! thats fair though right? thats a game of reason. its ridiculous. get your **** together moba AND riot and start thinking about the players and the fans...... NOT the money, NOT the prizes..the FANS WHO PLAY FOR YOU. this is just ridiculous.

I don't know much of Mobafire tournaments but it's unlikely that there's going to be tournament balancing. It's a tournament aimed at serious competition just like Go4Lol with a matching prize pool. If you want balanced matchmaking, look for tournaments with a specific Elo-restriction.

You can't have a tournament that's both professional AND balanced. If you want balanced matchmaking go play the ranked teams ladder. If you want a "professional" tournament don't expect the organisers to babysit your team because a bunch of plats would wreck you.

EDIT: Oh, also, as Vyn noted, ELO-restricted tournaments are the thing you're looking for.

Lol, you got rekt by 5 Plat players?

Mate, Unicorns of ****ing Love won the EU MF tournament at least once and you're complaining about losing to plat players? ****ing LMAO.

Don't complain about an open tournament, because that's as fair as they come, lol.

And honestly, they can decide whatever time they want and they don't have to give a flying **** about what your scrub team's schedule is like.

tl;dr, no one gives a ****, but your post is absolutely hilarious.

As for the start time and date, I can't really speak to that. I have participated in a number of Mobafire tournaments and the times and dates have always been consistent, this may have been an outlier. I will say, you signed up a month in advance for the tournament. That is likely well before the drawing stage and way before a lot of teams have signed up, you should expect that details and matches to change accordingly.

A balance system has already been discussed an it was deemed to difficult to run the tournament. It's impossible to perfectly balance everything, they have taken steps by barring Masters and Challenger players from participating in the tournament as to not upset the balance too much. With all that said, Platinum players are nothing special, if you honestly feel you have no chance against them, then I wouldn't even bother to play competitively. At the very least, you could just get better at the game instead of complaining about having to play against players who are better than you. The Mobafire tournament is completely open, that means basically anyone can sign up, so inevitably there will be a skill differential. If you and your team cannot handle that, then go back to your Bronze ranked 5's team, because honestly that's the only place you'll find players about your level and even then there may be a skill discrepancy.

You could also just create and run your own tournament. They're quite a bit of work and the admins who host the tournament put in a lot of time and effort to make them run as smoothly as possible. At the very least you could be appreciative and recommend changes without introducing yourself to this community as a massive prick

The tournament hosted on MobaFire is set to have single elimination match progression, so if it started off with the low elo teams facing each other, it will only end up with the best teams facing the best of the worst meaning your chances of placing higher in the tournament will basically stay the same. If your team can't compete with the plat and diamond teams your not going to win.

Try looking for elo based tournaments, but keep in mind that several high level players have smurfs accounts prosperously capped in bronze and silver just so they can win RP for their main accounts.

The only way to win tournaments is to just improve and train with your team regularly if you can't beat plat/diamond you just need to practice and get to that level.

It seems like everyone else has said what needs to be said, but just to summarize:
  • "Professional" tournaments are competitive by nature. They're meant to reward the best teams in the tournament with everyone vying for the top spot. They are not meant to give every team the closest possible games.
  • MOBAFire tournaments are open tournaments, which means players and teams of any caliber are invited to compete. With random seeding in an open tournament, you're bound to get rough matchups sometimes and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Having played in many tournaments myself, I know it can be frustrating to get knocked out in the first round, but remember roughly half the teams in the tournament have to lose their first game. It's just how the format works.
  • NA tournaments are (always the third Sunday of the month and always start at 10:00 AM PST/PDT. I don't recall seeing any schedule changes. Maybe I missed it, but it started on the day and at the time that it does every month.

If this wasn't a great experience for you and your team, take the advice of others in this thread and look for a tournament that's gated by rank so you know roughly what level of teams you'll be up against.
Thanks to Jovy for the sig!

This was my 1st MOBAFire Tournament with my new team, Flytlez Gamers Club. We won, but we went up against the Servers BEST CHALLENGER TEAM, #1 Challenger Team NA. We won, my team is a range of diamonds, granted we are really good and our current solo q rank probably doesn't reflect our skill. Anything is possible, that being said, be realistic in your goals, best of luck The Tycon!

Thanks MOBAFire for a great experience!
