All open MobaFire pages turn into the above when I attempt to ctrl+V or rightclick+paste something into my Ashe guide. It's getting annoying and means that I need to edit in a Notepad to avoid borkage.

Chrome, Australia.

Same here, except mine doesn't crash, it just takes an obnoxious amount of time to paste. Even when writing I experience some lag...

^Hey, me too! I was getting lag, but assumed it was because I have one chapter with 83.5k characters (12.2k words).

Happens to me too at times, which means I occasionally have to manually enter in all the formatting stuff...not fun, especially because bbcode seems to hate me with a passion. :3

Any updates on the issue? It's getting worse for me, I can't seem to be able to type in anything without having to wait 10-15 seconds for the page to unfreeze :/

You're saying it's not necessarily related to copying anything in then, correct? Might be issues caused by guide length instead, which we've also experienced on SF (through of a different nature, I should note).

That would be my guess. I am working on a new guide and it's been running smoothly for now. My published guide is quite big, so I guess that's the main issue.

Hey all, we're still investigating, unfortunately I can't seem to replicate this issue. I'm able to bring up your guides on the edit page and copy/paste/type without any lag at all. I'm using Chrome as well. Can you provide specific steps to reproduce the lag and crashes?

I have seen that "Aw, Snap!" error page before on other sites in Chrome, such as with complex browser games, Flash or Unity or such. However, when you're just sitting there typing on the edit guide page, there's no JavaScript doing anything. We don't trigger anything on copy / paste either. Also, having a big block of text shouldn't be a problem, it's just text. 100 characters or 100,000 characters shouldn't make much of a difference.

I might suggest disabling browser addons and seeing if that helps. Also check memory usage in Chrome and see if it's running away with all your RAM. Maybe try another browser and see if you still get any lag or other issues.

Unfortunately, if I can't replicate the issue, it's very difficult to figure out what's causing it, so any additional steps or information you can provide would help a lot!

Edit: Nevermind. I am now able to reproduce this issue. If I copy/paste your entire guide once or twice it starts to lag and freeze and I managed to get the "Aw, Snap" page. Some quick Googling indicates that this is a common issue with Chrome. I'm still poking at it but people with this issue that try another browser like Firefox, find that they have no problems there. For now, try editing your guide in Firefox and see if that helps.

I've read that disabling Chrome's spell checker can help a lot but it's not working for me. I'll keep messing with it.

OK so, I did some reading through various Chrome issue tracker posts, this is an issue people have been having with Chrome all the way back to 2014. One suggestion was to disable the spell checker, and that seemed to help a lot for me.

Right click on the text area -> language settings -> uncheck anything related to spell checking you can find in there. After unchecking that, I had to fully close all Chrome windows AND the Chrome icon in the bottom right tray. Then I was able to copy/paste the guide several times over before getting a bit of manageable lag. That was over 6 megs of text and still useable.

So, it seems like there may be nothing we can do about this as it is a browser issue. Try disabling the spell checker like I described, and try editing in Firefox, and let me know if either of those help. Breaking your guide up into multiple chapters would also help, as several text boxes with less text runs much better than one text box with a tonne of text.
