I'd upgrade if it is a 6950/6970. For 1080p, I'd recommend the MSI GTX 970 or AMD 380 depending on your budget.

Are the graphic cards compatible with ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3? If you had to choose, which one would you get of the two? I'll do a bit more research on them myself too (I'm outdated in the tech department. Haven't looked at parts since I built my current one in 2010). 350€ is absolute maximum budget, 300€ I can pay comfortably.
I've never heard of graphics cards not being compatible with certain motherboards; your motherboard has a PCI-E slot in order to run a 6970 so you can just slot the new card in there.
