Temperatures seem fine from what I know, GPU is averaging about 30 when idle and around 60 under heavy load.
I haven't explicitly tried to reproduce it yet (I don't really have the time right now with college work) but it's never happened before and I was spamming Fallout 4 right before I started DS3, and before that Witcher 3 and neither of those games have ever had any issues. I also played in pretty much every League inhouse game on Friday and Saturday with no problem.
Possible explanations I've come up with:
-Faulty PSU (unlikely since it's new and a good manufacturer)
-Loose/faulty cables (is this even possible?)
-Power supply is insufficient under heavy load with peripherals (then why didn't it happen before?)
-Some kind of crazy-*** Dark Souls 3 bug that only I'm getting (doesn't really explain startup problems though)
-Aliens
Maybe replugging the mobo fixed it and it'll be fine now. It's weird as **** at any rate.

Alright guys, Canadian dollar is coming back up, my job is actually giving me shifts, and my birthday + grad's coming up, it's time for me to build a computer. I still don't know all that much on computers parts so I'm not too sure how this build is, help would be appreciated.
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/tHgZ4D
budget is $900-$1200, I'm not buying everything at once but each part at a time, any specific times I should wait for to buy a certain part?
I'm gonna need a monitor as well, nothing crazy, but anything from $100-$200 if possible
any suggestions?

Your build can't overclock and has no cpu cooler, other than that it seems pretty good. You could get more for your money if you go for ddr3 instead of ddr4(mostly by having a . You can also save a lot of money by getting a windows 7/8/10 license from ebay or something(whatever is cheapest, you can upgrade to 10 anyway. You should be able to get one for ~30$ without trying). This is what I came up with:
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/VZNsbv (I used your build as measure point for the price, not the 1200$)

Thanks to IPodPulse for this <3^

There's faster RAM at the same price. The general rule here is to look for highest speed (the X part in DDR4-XXXX) with lowest latency (CAS latency) you can find at a cheap price. The one I picked has obnoxiously large heatsinks, as long as you're okay with that (RAM doesn't even need heatsinks, so the smaller the better for airflow). Here's what my current RAM looks like :D
If you're going for an M-ATX motherboard you should probably go for an M-ATX case as well. CM N200 sticks out as the most solid budget option to me due clever drive slot mounting.
Extra cooling isn't required, but it's a relatively cheap and easy way to make the system more quiet and cooler. I'd recommend getting one more case fan and using low voltage adapters for the two front fans to balance the intake/exhaust.
CPU cooler is optional. I would normally recommend Scythe Kotetsu, but the pricing for that one in Canada is crazy, so CM 212 EVO looks like the best choice.
I'd recommend getting an 80+ Gold PSU. The efficiency is generally significantly higher than Bronze(~90% vs ~84%), and you also generally get better voltage regulation and ripple control. The one I included was simply the cheapest one I found. All you need is 400W, so anything above that should do.
As for storage Samsung has a newer 750 model that I'd recommend over 850 (slightly lower performance but better price). Corsair also released a Force LE series recently. With 240GB for as little as 75$ and 480GB for 140$ (i.e. 480GB is slightly more cost-effective). Corsair's models are slightly slower than Samsung's (~10%), but they also cost a decent chunk less(~20%), so I'd probably go with them, cuz cost efficiency.
AMD will be releasing their Polaris architecture this summer, so if you can wait a couple of months before buying your GPU I'd really recommend doing so. Polaris will be the first 16nm GPU (after 4 years of 28nm) and will bring a huge number of improvements to the table.
As for screens, with AMD in mind for GPU you should probably look at something with FreeSync support. AOC G2260VWQ6 offers 75Hz refreshrate at just under 200$. It's a bit on the tiny side at 21.5", but that's a really good price for a screen with framesync. If you're okay with spending a little bit more (just above 300$) AOC has a really good 144Hz FreeSync model called G2460PQU. And this one is a bit more normal at 24 inches (25% larger than 21.5"). Keep in mind that you need to use a DP (Displayport) cable to use FreeSync, not HDMI.
Here's the list with EVERYTHING included (remove the screen/SSD/other parts you don't want).

He doesn't need to overclock. He saves like 100$ on that. Current CPUs are plenty powerful enough already.
DDR4 seems like a better idea when the price difference is as small as it is.
Why would you list older generation CPUs when the newer ones cost almost exactly the same? --.--

I know that the cpus cost pretty much the same, but you can save some money on the motherboard by going last-gen. This isn't really the case if you don't wanna OC and I only did it wanted to stay somewhat on budget. You can save another ~35$ by going for the cheapest 390(the gigabyte one, http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr939wf28gd) btw

Yeah, but if he's waiting for Polaris to drop the current pricing is hardly relevant.

true, but if you are gonna add a gpu, you might as well use the obvious choice. It's not really a big deal though.

Don't plan on overclocking, just want something simple. Why buy a key from ebay? Aren't most of them fake or pirated?

Looks pretty good, I like the the Corsair SSD is a really good price and for 10gb less it's pretty much a must have. I'll probably wait around early June for the GPU, Canadian dollar is slowly coming up so it should be a little cheaper too. The AOC 144Hz is pretty good, I think ill get that monitor as well, thanks for the help Searz, appreciate it
