Veigar once who rushed Randuin's Omen first item. He didn't die, but he also wasn't rolling over mid lane, so we were kind of nervous about what this guy has in his head... he proceeds to destroy everyone in the late game. The question remains, though... why the *** did he want that item for?

Isn't it obvious lol? Veigar's Q gives him infinite AP, meaning he has no use for actually building AP. All he has to do is build tanky so the enemy team can't kill him, and let his passive AP do work.
