Thanks! It's a bit dated and needs a few small changes now, but most of the guide still works on the current patch.

I agree though, with the damage shift from Q to passive, Q max is pretty hard now. Just doesn't burst hard enough mid-game.

Hello there,

Your guide looks good but why there aren't any chapter heading. I think it would be great if you expand your guide, make it more detailed and organised. The effort you have put in it can be seen clearly put you can do even better. Write down more about the teamwork and tells us some tips when playing against (champion) jungle. For example, When you are playing against Rengar it is good to do:
1.-early ganks
2.-steal his blue/red
3.-kill his monsters
(I am not sure about these things, just giving an example)
Hope you will consider that :)

Thanks, I do plan to clean the guide up and organizing it more. Not planning on going into too much detail about specific match-ups at the moment, but I might get around to it.

Shaco can definitely pull off early ganks and invades, but doing so has less to do with the champion Shaco, and more to do with reading what's happening on the map, and responding accordingly.

As an example, you're taking Scuttle Crab near bot lane, and the enemy jungler shows up on a ward top lane. His bottom side jungle is partly up, and both bottom lane and mid lane are occupied with the pressure from your own lanes. This is the perfect time to take his bottom side jungle camps. It doesn't matter that you're playing Shaco, any jungler can do these things. It's just about reading the map.
Maybe I'll write a guide specifically on that later!

Thanks again for the suggestions!

Hey Vort,

I see you have spent a lot of your time to make this guide very helpful. But I have one question:
-Is it better to take Statikk Shiv instead of Trinity Force? Because its good combo with him passive Backstab. Anyway tank you for guide. Have a nice day. :)

Still playing around with builds, and haven't updated the guide yet, but Statikk Shiv might be strong again, with the recent changes. Just thought I'd toss that out!

The up-front burst damage on Statikk Shiv is pretty strong, although it's not actually higher than the burst damage Trinity Force provides, if my math isn't off, and the damage (and other stats) on Trinity Force scale better as well. On top of that, the build path to Trinity Force is much better than Statikk Shiv. Shaco doesn't get much out of Zeal on it's own, and Kircheis Shard is decent, but only about on par with Sheen for burst damage (and lacks CDR).

If you desperately need a power-spike, and have enough to straight-buy Statikk Shiv, it might be okay, but in most cases, saving for the Trinity Force purchase is probably the better option. Phage + Sheen + Boots costs the same as Statikk Shiv, and they all provide very strong stats for Shaco.

Beyond damage, the CDR, AD, Health, and sticking power from Rage on Trinity Force are all really good stats to have on Shaco, especially early.

Good question though, Statikk Shiv used to be one of the stronger items on Shaco!

Thanks,
- C.

Hey Vort,

I can see alot effort in this guide but I'm missing the AP Shaco build :( It's much more easier for beginners and you only have to know where to place your Jack In The Box :D
It's a pretty helpful and nice guide anyways, good work! :)

Thanks, still working on the guide formatting, but got the quick and dirty info out!

Might write in an AP build. Haven't tried it on 7.7, but prior to the changes, I didn't find it to be nearly as effective or reliable. I'm still a bit dubious, but I'll look into it!

The AD build works pretty well even with poor rune setups, although you do have to be a bit more careful with raptor camps and such on your first clear. The main problem I found when trying to run the AP build was the clear speed without Tiamat rush puts you too far behind if you can't get in some early cheese kills in the enemy jungle, or snowball off a lane, and I feel the AD build can do that pretty much as easily, but with more consistency.

If you've had different experiences or think I'm missing something, I'd be happy to look into suggestions!

Thanks again,
- C.

Thanks for your reply.
I have nearly the same experiences, thats why I usually grab Tiamat as soon as possible and sell it at the end (i know, wasted money). AP Shaco is pretty effective, since his ability scaling is changed. You can literally 2-shot squishy enemies with Two-Shiv Poison :P
In my opinion, AD Shaco works better, too but I think that the AP way should be mentioned anyways :D

Great Guide!
