Imo the only real pain point is that the client doesn't handle disconnects during champion select well. It really shouldn't affect in game FPS. The underlying technology is at least a LOT better than what they used before.

I've been using the client more or less since it came out and it was pretty perfect until it went live for everyone, now I experience bugs pretty frequently. Most annoying thing is that sometimes my client will pop up over any other application incessantly until I relog. Which is fine except when I'm in-game I can't relog, so I have to play fullscreen to prevent the client from tabbing me out every 5 seconds.
My friends list gets bugs all the time, I can't rename this one group ("random") and it keeps ascending to the top of my groups and I can't drag it down. So I figured if I renamed it to like "zzz random" or something, it'd go down on its own since it's sorted alphabetically, but nah. It won't let me change the name, or it will momentarily but then it'll switch back to "random" on its own like some freaky AI.
Lastly on my PC back home (the bad one), the client is incredibly slow and has like 10 FPS because it's apparently more demanding the old one or something? And champion select and making a game is really annoying, even though the game itself runs well.
I like the look of it though, the new masteries and runes and profiles. I've heard a lot of complaints about those though.

The only thing changing in my setup is the client, so yeah it probably does cause the lower fps.
I also dont like the new mastery page setup. When I visited my ranked profile I used to see more stats. Item sets. So many things.

Yeah the software and coding of the old client was old and outdated as fk, so they physically couldnt implement QoL changes and features (such as the shop bugging out and not allowing you into it randomly.)
