Edit: do you think
It varies from game to game. High elo you wanna W max, low elo you wanna Q max. The reason for this is that lower elo players misposition alot more often, thus you can poke and harass. Higher elo you wanna max W because you get targeted alot as the most squishy champ. In terms of E, you usually delay it to lv4 but some scenario's you take it at lv3 in cases of a sudden gank or something.
Hope this clears things up!

Spellthief's Edge is correct. Eye of the Watchers used to be the previous Spellthief's Edge upgrade. I'll have things updated a little bit more when preseason hits and all the new items come out so I can do it all in one go.

I haven't been active much here, but I have been trying out new support champs other than Soraka.
And now, Sona is kind of like my new support main.
Thank you for the guide. ^^
I really like the idea of grabbing an
Also, upgrading
It's been a while indeed :P That's cool! Sona is my third most played champion (in terms of champion points), Nami being my 2nd highest maybe you'll like her alot too if you haven't tried her yet.
You're welcome ^.^ it is a little bit outdated though, it's not as perfect as I want it to be (like my Soraka guide), but it does consume quite a bit of time making guides :3 I also grab a Tear pretty early on, usually I go Frostfang, Tear then straight into Ardent. I also max W (heal) on her, I have found more success in doing so, I like to compare it with maxing W on Nami.

You have helped me with your top notch guides to max up my support game, especially with Soraka and also on Sona. You had recommended me to try Nami in the past, and I have tried playing a handful of games as her ... but I found Sona much quicker to master. I have not tried much of Janna tho I think they are interms similar in play style (along with Nami and Sona); but much difficult to get used to (your thoughts on Janna ?)
Anyways, I shall be playing more games with Nami, and btw the teams I play with are starting to demand a tank support these days.., so any idea which support should I try afterwards with tanky potential aswell ???
Btw I do watch your streams from time and again ;)

I'm glad to hear that :3
Janna is actually pretty easy to play, however there are a few small details to her kit to master her.
The way you use your ult and timing can be very important, knowing the exact range on your ult to interrupt enemies but not knocking them too far back from your allies is an example. So similar to alot of these other squishy support champions positioning is important.
In my opinion I think she's a bit more difficult in terms of trying to engage/setting up for your team (Nami for example can catch enemies with her bubble), unless you get a lucky Q with Janna from afar it may be enough to heavily poke that person out or even kill them if you can follow up with a W slow together with your team. Although once you're onto someone they have a much harder time getting away (W slow into Q knockup cc's them for a long time/they can't get away that easily).
As for tanky supports, there are so many champions/playstyles you can pick from, aswell as different item builds you can go on these champions, and then there are off meta tank supports aswell.
Do you like the tank supports that engage and go really deep into the enemy team? Or do you like committing less and still be a tank for your team? You wanna stick to traditional tank supports or are you open/prefer off meta supports?
Oooh heh FeelsGoodMan I wasn't aware, your twitch name is probably different from here :P

I would like to know about tanks that are less committed to diving deep into the enemy team and still be a tank. Maybe someone who can dish out damage from a range. I suppose Rakan is not a tank :P tho I have seen him dishing out pretty good damage with swift escapes as well.
Anyhow, I do not know much about meta supports/ and off meta supports, but what I would like to try in terms of tank supports is someone ranged; for a smooth transition from the squishy non tanky supports which I am so used to playing...
And yes, I couldn't get this name for my twitch name so I had to modify it a bit :P :D
Thank you,
~gameboyUtt (~~^u^)~~
I was thinking about Rakan at first since he's got some healing/shielding (Q+E) in his kit aswell as engage tools (R+W). I think Rakan is one of the very few supports that can build hybrid since he can take advantage off healing/shielding support items very well, aswell as tanky items because he's very prone to getting poked down real quick when engaging. He is a diving champion however as you mentioned has pretty swift escapes.
Bard can dish out some decent damage and is a ranged champion. Similar to Rakan his playstyle makes tanky builds pretty good, you don't have to commit as hard as Rakan with your engages because your catch potential (R and/or Q) has a good range.
Braum has nice catch potential with his ranged Q slows aswell as his R knockups. He is a melee champion but you don't have to commit as hard on him.
Tahm Kench and Taric are tanky melee supports but can poke from afar. Tahm doing a better job at poking and sticking onto someone, he's more of a rotating playmaker with his ult. Taric is more based around being very strong in teamfights for his invulnerability aoe ult and his aoe heals.
Some other tanky supports are Blitzcrank and Thresh if you like hook champions. Blitzcrank commits less, Thresh has more saving teammates potential due to his lantern (W) and has the option to commit hard (second part of Q) but is not necessarily as you can walk up and flay them towards you too.
Some off meta tanky champions that you can make work in the support role are Trundle, Nunu, Skarner. They're more known as junglers but if you're really good at the champion you can make anything work really. The laning phase is kind of interesting, kind of passive, especially if your bottom lane partner doesn't know how to adapt quickly, but when getting ganks can work really well. Mid-late game can be very fun to play aswell.
Hope that gives you some more insight. If you have any other questions let me know :3
~SwelteringMuffin
Rakan and Bard interest me the most from your insights, also Tahm and Taric.
I think I will try them afterwards.
I don't know if I wanna try hooks champions any time soon, mostly because I've had a lot of encounters with them in the enemy team, embarrassing themselves especially in early games when they miss their hook and the rest of the cooldown they wait and try not to be killed xD
I shall also give Braum a shot as he seems the most tanky with his mighty shield :D, but only after Rakan, Bard, Tahm and Taric.
Thank you again Muffin ^^
... well I am gonna be off for sometime yet again, mastering the new support champs (or at least trying to). ;)
Have fun!
