hello im a tahm kench main with 400k mastery points and 65% win rate (but i was gold last season) on him currently, id say he is pretty amazing especially on top lane with press the attack, he will almost always win 1v1 at lvl 1 versus champs, and his play style is usually bait and fish, his tongue reels him in to the prey if they run and his shield lets him kill them even tho their under turret, one time i got fed so much i just went into my top lane opponent vladimir under his tower and simply killed him without a care in the world.
after laning phase is over at top, tahm begins to play a more supportive role, going to the front to tank and engage or stay in the back to peel and swallow allies who are rooted or stunned giving them an extra distance by spitting them behind him.
one last thing id love to mention tahms swallow negates damage, recently i played tahm jungle and ended up going bot, vayne before she died went for the last hit on the support, before the arrow hit, i swallowed the support negating the damage, letting vayne die alone without letting her take anyone with her, also works with yasuos ult while his busy doing the whole ult animation but end up with nothing.
so! on that note if you want to try and main tahm kench ill say this, a decent tahm player peels by swallowing to save his fellow allies, but a good tahm kench player uses his allies as bait sometimes to reel, q poke and kill a juicy fish.
