I don't think Maokai gives enemies enough reason to focus him to be a good tank. He's a great support though, provided the player actually plays him right.

Yea, Maokai is a support tank.

Maokai can be built pure tank and succeed if he didn't suck so badly. Getting stuff like a 
Frozen Heart and Aegis of the Legion will make him tanky enough and still supportish.

Alistar is easily top tier, he has a support for laning with carries, he has 2 cc's one being aoe, and his ult makes him unharmable, some argue that he doesnt need tank items because of his ult, but u never wanna rely on ur ult. Alistar with frozen heart, ionian boots and bansheis is all u need, never run out of mana 35% cdr=gg

How do you guys feel about a Maokai/Morde/Garen tank? Garen and Morde have no hard CC, true but they become threats and get some soft but reliable CC when built properly.
