So I'm sure you all remember when Kayle was completely imba and banned in every game because she could support and carry so hard. What I'm wondering now is, what's so different about her? The only thing that got nerfed real hard is her heal, with her damage output left virtually untouched. I played a game on a smurf and still completely raped everything late game. Her ult is still amazing and game changing. Could Kayle be under rated?

I think the only explanation for Kayle not being as great anymore is the meta change. However with 8 rageblade stacks I still think her heal can be very, very good. Anyone play Kayle recently? I'm thinking about playing her a lot more often after playing that smurf game.

Thanks to Anal Samurai for the sig!

Mana-constraints and weak early game skill ranks.
Her passive makes her boss late-game, an AP:AD exchange bonus means all items give extra value for her.
They balanced this by giving her a very difficult early game to keep her in check.

This makes her a very difficult champion to master, as it's perpetual hard work when it comes to Kayle.

Although she's fun to win with, she's also a gamble that the game will last a long time.
I played her a bit, and although she's very satisfying, she's also very exhausting to play with.

Yup, biggest problem I had is that her early game seems pretty terrible. I'm hoping that by playing her on my main I can reduce some of the sting but I doubt it will help too much. I really don't want to grab a tear or catalyst as rushing Nashor's+Rageblade is just 2good, but on the other hand she is a late game champ so it may not be too bad of an idea.

Thanks to Xiaowiriamu for the sig!

The main complaint that people have with Kayle now is that she has too weak of an early game to make up for any kind of late-game excellence.

Consider that her heal is what gave her staying power. If you've ever laned against a good Nidalee, you know how hard it is to harass and kill her in lane with her perpetually healing herself. Kayle is similar, and now that they nerfed her staying power, her early-mid game is significantly weaker.

I love her problems quite eloquently.
Although it still takes a lot of patience to get your Guinsoo.

I take Clarity and Ghost as Summoner Spells.

Spawn: Start with a Doran's Ring.
B-1: Buy Boots + one hp pot + TWO mana pots
B-2: Berzerkers (or mercs) and 1 hp + 1mp pot.
B-3: Buy Meki pendant and parts for Guinsoo if possible.

If you reserve Righteous fury for farming and fights (try to avoid fights when possible), and play conservatively, the mana pots will be enough to sustain you.

Meki pendant before guinsoo to keep you sustained, and once you have Guinsoo, you're cooking.

All I'd ask for if there were a buff would be:
  • Mana-cost-reduction on Righteous Fury
  • Divine Blessing's move speed to scale.
  • CC Immunity/Reduction on Intervention - Serious that spell doesn't save ANYONE against hard CC teams.

I go with Meki pendant (+2 health pots), Berserker Greaves, Manamune (mana issues gone), Guinsoo's, Hextech GB, Trinity Force, & Nashor's or The Black Cleaver (depending on what I need)

Some people pay no attention to Kayle's passive, so they build her as a caster (only 15% of her AP is converted to bonus AD), which only works if you get a Lichbane (which they never do). It works much better to build her with higher AD because 30% of that is converted to bonus AP. I have found that AD-hybrid Kayle is much less underpowered than AP-hybrid.

Yeah, If I ever played her it was hardcore support (for AD carries) or AD/Hybrid. I just can't play her very seriously. She just isn't my play-style at all.

Greetings,

recently I tried out a lot of things with Kayle. One idea was using proc-items with attack speed (Such as the Witchers Blade - or however it is called). The main reason was simply, that whenever she used Q on an enemy, any damage is increased, including things like Ignite or procs. But the 16% were only barely noticeable and the damage output itself wasn't nearly high enough/viable. I used Sorcerer Boots and Magic pen runes. (Bot game - I was very farmed, but couldn't really kill too much). Another idea was to use usable-items to increase the damage output for the limited timespan, where her Q-debuff is active. However, the damage output/burst was lackluster again.

In the end I woudl say - you have to build her around the passive. There is no way around it. She is too weak otherwise.

Can anyone provide me some replays from Kayle, where the enemies are not complete noobs/it's kinda balanced?

Rush either a manamune (go for trin force) or Archangel's (Lichbane instead) so you don't have mana issues. I also like to get Berserker's Greaves instead of Sorc. Shoes, and have flat AD in my reds instead of Magic Pen but this depends on whether you go more AP or more AD. You really do have to build so as to best get the boost from her passive, this means that AD is better than AP, but either way Sheen is basically required. Malady can be really good too because it adds even more magic damage when you use righteous fury, the same with Madred's. But you need Sheen, Guinsoo's and Hextech GB (should be 3rd or 4th item, at the latest).
