It's also harder to predict if skillshots will land.
The only smartcast bind I have is mouse4 as Q. Very useful for when I play Mundo in practice vs AI. That way I can play with one hand and do something else with my other hand >:D

Yes. I don't know about you guys, but I have trouble getting it up when playing Mundo. Maybe I just have bad taste in big blue MEN.

It's never bothered me to click to level up, but SO many more times smartcast has saved me/earned me a kill. I used to miss ganks all the time on Nunu because ice ball is sometimes hard to land with E + click so I switched to smartcast.
Smartcast isn't necessary, as shown by the pros, but I don't think it hurts you any.
