Hello,

I am quite new in this game, stil playing against AI to find out which hero fits me most. played alot with karthus but he kind of bored me afer a while. So I decided to go back with cho'gath.

Now I need some advice on his build and masteries if thats ok?

i looked at some guids and I mostly saw AP builds or a tank build. So I am assuming that a dps build isnt viable?

I saw that most of the builds use dorians ring as a starter. So I think I should do that to?

If someone could give me a list with which masteries I should choose and which items I should have for a solid build? that would be great.

ps. almost forgot some advice how to play with him would also be nice!

thanks in advance.

Q, W, E then R > W > E > Q
9/0/21 - masteries
Ghost and Flash (if not lvl 12 yet, use Teleport imo)
Tank build: Dorans Ring > Boots > Catalyst > Merc Treads > Rod of Ages/Banshee's Veil
Rod of Ages if you're doing well, Banshees if not. Rest is situational but Frozen Heart/Randuins Omen/Sunfire Cape are fine choices against physical and Force of Nature/Banshees/Abyssal Scepter against magical.

Edit: For Runes Attack Speed or Magic Pen Marks, Armor Seals, Magic Resist Glyphs and Health Quints.

Not bad, but you're just so tanky early anyways.

You should try an atk speed build cho, with vorpal strikes = gg and the fast killing minions will raise your heatlh quickly with his passive.

One of the things to understand about Cho'Gath is that early game, he's a very powerful laner. Your Q+W can easily clear a wave of caster minions, letting you gain health and mana back from your passive while also giving you gold. Learn to land your Ruptures.

Late-game, you have a ton of health and a lot of disruption because of your Q and W, while your Feast can take down anyone very quickly.

One more thing. If you want to make sure you hit your Ruptures just use it when they're already CCed (stunned, slowed, rooted...).

Ahhh thank you for all the advice =). I am using this guide now for the build . but instead of the Regrowth Pendant I am using dorians ring as a starter item. and it works out pretty well.

Oh and I know that every champion has some things at which he should look out for? But what are the things I should avoid or watch for when playing cho?

1. Don't use Clarity.
2. Don't rush Rylais, you need some armor and magic resist to be able to tank well.
3. Don't max Rupture first. R > W > E > Q
4. Don't feast before a teamfight.
5. Don't underestimate his W. The AoE silence is so amazing in teamfights.

Edit: Well, that's what I think.

Hotshot has a good style of playing him. Start with a Doran's Ring. Max R>W>Q>E.

Your final build should be something like:
Mercury's Treads
Rod of Ages
Banshee's Veil
Frozen Heart
Force of Nature

Sixth item is optional.
