Its the same with AP and AD Eve.
Take AD if you want more predictable and persistent damage and AP if you want to Zomfgburst like a boss.
Tho AD deals always more damage the longer the Fight goes.
I prefer AD for myself because I can predict the damage better and stick on my opponents like glue, hammering them into the ground, I like this paystyle more that's all.
But since I am an occasional Poppy player I build after a Solomid Guide.

El Psy Congroo.

I love Poppy... and usually build her AP.
Crash, Smash. Done.
Sure you'll auto attack, but the bigger the crash and smash, the faster your opponent has to decide how they're going to react. If they're still alive, chances are the only thing on their mind is trying to run the hell away.
Then again, Triforce pretty much covers everything. After that I look at what resists my opponents have, and build accordingly. However, most carries don't build resists until very late, in which case... Crash! Smash!

Don't +Rep me at all. I like my obscurity. Thank you.
Jvstm: I've also tried that, though I find it funnier to go with:
Boots of Swiftness
Trinity Force
Phantom Dance
Black Cleaver
Youmuu's Ghostblade
Banshee's Veil
Not necessarily in that order. Just often some of those item (Always TrinForce.)

I do sometimes get a
Frozen Mallet though. I just like to have tons of damage, since you have 8 seconds of "almost" imortality when lvl 16. I do however, also often get Mercury's Treads, when I play more seriously.

Building durability on Poppy seems stupid. She's incredibly naturally tanky because of her passive.
Try it one day, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Then again, it depends on your team comp and their team comp... but after Triforce, going tanky can be a great idea.

Like tons of burst on AP against quite some burst and more persisent damage on AD?
What do you prefer and why? And how do you build AP Poppy?
