I'm running Firefox (the latest version, IDK if it's 4 or 5 anymore) and it gets rid of everything for me.
Get an addon for it. The browser saves the info, it just doesn't use it when you go back to the page. The addons let you roll back to what you've been writing.

I have implemented a feature that will go up in the next "patch", that will display a warning when you try to leave a page after typing text into a comment box. It will be applied to all the quick reply boxes across the site, the advanced reply box and the create/reply pm boxes.
I could apply it to the build editor page as well but, there is no simple way of determining whether or not you have made any edits, so it would just have to warn any time you try to leave the build editor, even if you don't have any unsaved changes. If you guys think the security blanket of the warning is worth the annoyance of a popup every time you leave the build editor, I can do that.
I could also come up with a bit of a hack solution, such as a timer that prevents the popup if you leave the page within 30 seconds of loading it or clicking save/publish. That way if you save then click away in 30 seconds it won't bother you. Something like that.

Seems like a good idea :)

Actually I figured out a way to do it for the build editor properly :) The build editor will only warn you when leaving the page if you have actually made any changes since loading the page or since clicking save or publish :) So if you accidentally hit a button while editing it'll warn you, but if you save or publish your changes then click away it won't. Works awesome in my testing! Will go up with the rest of it, soon.

I've made that mistake a few times.
I've love it if these forums had a post-friendly feature. Some forums will save your text for a short period (while you write) so if you accidentally click back, you won't lose your text.
Some e-mail systems do it too.
