Your Thoughts on Skarner as a Jungler

So I was reading the lore that Riot put out for Skarner and a brief description of his skills.

(Abilities:

Energize (Passive): Basic attacks lower the cooldowns of Skarner's abilities by 1 second against champions and 0.5 seconds against non-champions.

Crystal Slash: Skarner lashes out with his claws, dealing physical damage to all nearby enemies and charging himself with Crystal Energy for several seconds. If he casts Crystal Slash again while empowered by Crystal Energy, he deals bonus magic damage and slows all targets hit.

Crystalline Exoskeleton: Skarner gains a shield and while the shield persists his movement speed and attack speed are both increased.

Fracture: Skarner summons a blast of crystalline energy which deals damage to enemies struck and marks them. Any further damage dealt to marked targets by Skarner will allow him to consume the mark to heal himself.

Impale (Ultimate): Skarner suppresses an enemy champion and deals magic damage to it. During this time, skarner can move freely and will drag his helpless victim around with him. When the effect ends, Skarner's target will be dealt additional damage.) [quoted directly from leagueoflegends.com]

After reading Skarner's skills Crystalline Exoskeleton and Fracture and his passive Energize do you think it is possible that Skarner would become a viable Jungler? His Crystalline Exoskeleton increases his attack speed and movement speed and his Fracture does AOE damage that inflicts a mark on enemies hit and when the marks are consumed heal Skarner and Energize decreases Skarner's cool downs by .5% when he attacks a non-champion enemy.

The only think I am unsure about is Fracture in terms of being AOE damage or not. Riot worded the skill using plurals but I don't know if that will make Skarner hit more then one enemy. If his skill Fracture wasn't AOE would he still possibly be a viable jungler?

He's still going to be a viable jungler. Phreak confermed it.
I think he's going to need flat CDR blues and start with his shield. AS quints probably to make use of his passive as much as possible in the jungle. I think he's also going to be a great counter jungler because of the passive making his skills cooldown faster if he's hitting a champion. His shield is going to be very powerful depending on the steroids it gives. It could have 100% up-time if used right. I'm thinking about building "troll build MS" just to abuse his ult.

Where was his confirmation on Skarner being a Jungler? lol I guess i missed that. I was just looking at his skills and thought that he would be a great Jungler.

But ur right about his counter jungling capabilities.

So what do you think would be a good rune build for him?

Beside the glyphs and quints you mentioned maybe armor pen marks and mana regen per 5 seals?

Armour pen marks, yes. But armour seals because he will have his mana problems solved buy blue buff.
I'm thinking that, because he's almost 100% magic damage, according to the skill descriptions, I think that mag pen marks would be better. That's just my opinion though.
EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, it might have been Morello who said that...

to me in sounded like crystal slash does physical dmg. also fracture just says "damage" and normally this means its physical. so the only magic dmg would be his ult.
also he has AS steroids.

all in all i havent got that many rune pages so i will just put him into my arpen-armor- magic resi- flat ad jungling rune page possibly changing mres to flat cdr

true about blue buff. then take armor seals instead of mana per 5 and then take AS quints and CDR glyphs along with armor pen marks... sounds like something to start looking into. guess i will start by buying my CDR glyphs tonight.

No, you're going to want to mix marks and quints to provide armor pen and attack speed - Stonewall says 12 ArP and 14 AS is optimal. Any of his skills look viable for starting with, but probably not his W because the shield doesn't have any additional healing effect. Just AS isn't enough. It's like Nocturne starting with W. Either Q or E in my opinion - Q for a faster jungle and E maybe for more sustain. Something's telling me that starting Q will be better in most cases though.
