Alistar - Good nerfs, probably will make him a little weaker but I don't see these breaking him.

Jax - Not sure if going for his early game is really going to fix him.. It's his ridiculous scaling from his abilities and passive that make jax op. If he gets farmed he is an unstoppable beast late game and this won't really change with this patch.

Kayle - Hybrid Kayle coming back! These changes actually look pretty good... I might have to try her out.

Nidalee - She got completely owned. Now all she is is a javelin spammer with a little bit of sustain. The cougar buffs don't change her.. Cougar will still be 100% useless for teamfights and she'll die even faster with no heal. Who the **** buys CDR on nidalee? Pounce takes a nerf as well, meaning she can't split push as well... Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Orianna - This is good, this is very good. Her ******** shield was way too strong, however I'm not quite sure if this is enough. Her kit just makes her too much of a beast lategame and they didn't touch her damage ratios, which means her damage capability is still really high. Good shield nerfs though.

Sona - Who would ever play her now? She was already pretty weak.

Soraka - We all know that we play soraka for dat starcall.

Taric - Doesn't get hit nearly as hard as soraka or nidalee, so I'm expecting to still see some taric+AD bot lanes. I kinda wanna try jungle taric now :P

Udyr - They are really starting to hurt his jungle now.. But it's his lane sustain that needs nerfed. These will help but I think a nerf to tiger burst should definitely be considered.

Xin Zhao - ??????
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
...

Notable non nerfs

Akali: You'll get it one day girlfriend, you'll get it one day.
Fiddlesticks: Ok I'll just keep banning him.
Mordekaiser: Win lane farm easy carry game. Huehuehue.

They really seem to be targetting sustain, but none of the offtank sustainers are getting hit (e.g. singed, cho'gath)

Fotm predictions:

Garen: This guy is so good at winning his lane it's disgusting. He wins so hard he can just zone you out of levels and cs. I'm seeing him in every game at my elo bracket (1700+) right now, but nobody has the balls to ban him yet.

Kennen: Same as Garen, Kennen is emerging as a really strong counter to tanky DPS top and can really dominate his lane early. Kennen's ult is just amazing lategame as well. His biggest issue is mid game teamfights where his ult isn't very strong yet, however early and mid game he's #1.

Janna: With all the sustain nerfs Janna will once again become a god tier support. She's been the best lategame support STILL, and now that all the supports with sustain are getting hit, her laning phase isn't as painful. Uh oh...

Initial meta thoughts

Nothing is gonna change. Soraka and Sona are going to be less played, bu I just don't feel that Taric, nor Alistar, nor Janna have been nerfed hard enough to change the support/AD carry meta. Not yet. Sorry to whoever who hates this meta, but I just don't think much will change! Except for jungle taric... Huehuehue.

Thanks to Anal Samurai for the sig!

Mejai is bad. Getting assists as support feeds the soul stealer. But I'd honestly go out of my way if I saw you with a mejai to simply focus all my burst on you. Soulstealer isn't worth it when you can't keep the stacks.

It's a bad tactic, you shouldn't make yourself a bigger target with an item that relies so heavily on the enemy being bad. You could stack Doran's rings if you want more AP, they give solid/stable benefits. Stop using mejai, regardless of what YOU think, USING the item on a support (or in general depending on circumstances) is what BADDIES do. Doesn't matter how well you do there are A LOT of better item options to put on Soraka. Hope that makes sense.

It is funny. They have used the word "sustain" as their basis for nerfs for some time now but they haven't touched one of the nuttiest sustain heroes. Alistar. AoE heal plus silly range on his headbutt and crazy passive. I see solo lane Alistars becoming popular again.

Most of the patch I am ok with. The healer + ranged AD bot has become very annoying. I still think they should have reduced the Gp10 bonus to only able to get 1 Gp10 item on a hero period.

I am happy about Kayle getting some help again. I think they need to do something about her passive though. It is still weak imo.

I didn't expect them to hurt Nid's heal so badly though. Wow.
Did I manage to assist you in any way? Hook me up by hitting that nifty +Rep button.

All guides have been archived due to my not being able to play LoL currently. The information is still there and is good but until I return they will be archived. I am able to keep them updated and current though.

Mastarwe wrote:

Why couldn't they wait with the rework for another 1 or 2 patches? Then the rework on the supports would've been complete (aka new taric ult, maybe a small buff on other places for sona?) This way they wouldn't just nerf and leave the heroes up for the time being and people would be way more happy.

Because then Taric with be the number one OP support if all other heals were nerfed this way.

NicknameMy wrote:

After that, they will rework Janna:

  • Howling Gale
    • AP-Ratio incereased
  • Zephyr
    • AP-Ratio increased
    • Movementspeed increased
  • Eye of the Storm
    • base shielding reduced
    • AP-Ratio increased
    • CD doubled
    • AD doubled
  • Monsoon
    • HEAL+Ratio nerfed hard, higher CD
    • Now grants Magicresist(or something else)

This would make Janna also more "when I do what" dependent.

Janna is considered balanced.

Learn it, Live it, Love her.

Alistar - Good nerfs, probably will make him a little weaker but I don't see these breaking him. People got too excited about AP Alistar. EU doesn't know how to play support/tank Ali. X3

Jax - Not sure if going for his early game is really going to fix him.. It's his ridiculous scaling from his abilities and passive that make jax op. If he gets farmed he is an unstoppable beast late game and this won't really change with this patch.
Agreed. His late game is the problem. They need to reduce those scalings

Kayle - Hybrid Kayle coming back! These changes actually look pretty good... I might have to try her out.
I like the attack speed per level buff the most. :3

Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
is suddenly uber-viable on her. :P
But, I'm definitely seeing more Cougar buffs. Like an increase in the armor/mr. Tenacity possibly getting added. And Pounce being made into a smart-cast so you don't have to pay attention to where you're facing the whole time...

Orianna - This is good, this is very good. Her ******** shield was way too strong, however I'm not quite sure if this is enough. Her kit just makes her too much of a beast lategame and they didn't touch her damage ratios, which means her damage capability is still really high. Good shield nerfs though.
One step at a time. Hurting her shield means she's a lot more susceptible to pokes and harass. That will hurt a lot of her normal gameplay.

Sona - Who would ever play her now? She was already pretty weak.
Please note that the bug-fix will result in Sona dealing 20% more damage on most of her gameplay.
This is in actuality a buff, because everyone has been playing with a Sona balanced around having 20% reduced damage. That reduced damage was considered balanced, so now, we'll see AP Sona burst-nuking A LOT HARDER.

Soraka - We all know that we play soraka for dat starcall.
Dat mr shred!

Taric - Doesn't get hit nearly as hard as soraka or nidalee, so I'm expecting to still see some taric+AD bot lanes. I kinda wanna try jungle taric now :P
You won't see Taric too often. His ultimate is getting a rework. People have already been playing him less, and this change is technically a nerf, so everyone will have to wait for the new shiny ultimate he's getting.

Udyr - They are really starting to hurt his jungle now.. But it's his lane sustain that needs nerfed. These will help but I think a nerf to tiger burst should definitely be considered.
Tiger isn't overpowered. Phoenix does around the same amount of damage over time. And you have to remember that Udyr has no ultimate so all skills need to be stronger then normal to compensate.

Xin Zhao - ??????
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Xin Zhao is still wrecking low-elo I think. He can still 1v1 a ton of people, and new players are very very frustrated by it.

Notable non nerfs

Akali: You'll get it one day girlfriend, you'll get it one day. Nope, Riot likes Akali where she is. Akali is a snowball champion who can only be countered by knock-backs and other burst. If she doesn't snowball, she's not a threat.
Fiddlesticks: Ok I'll just keep banning him. lol
Mordekaiser: Win lane farm easy carry game. Huehuehue. Riot's waiting for the dust to settle before looking at this one

They really seem to be targetting sustain, but none of the offtank sustainers are getting hit (e.g. singed, cho'gath)
Singed has sustain? I thought he was just stupidly bulky.
They ARE going after other heals and sustains. Healers are just the first priority due to the stupid carry+support bottom meta. Cho'Gath maybe be super sustainable, but he can't give that power to his allies like supports can. Get it?

Fotm predictions:

Garen: This guy is so good at winning his lane it's disgusting. He wins so hard he can just zone you out of levels and cs. I'm seeing him in every game at my elo bracket (1700+) right now, but nobody has the balls to ban him yet.

Having skill shots and an RNG on Slicing Maelstrom will always hold him back. FotMs can't be high-skill-ceiling skill-shot users

Janna: With all the sustain nerfs Janna will once again become a god tier support. She's been the best lategame support STILL, and now that all the supports with sustain are getting hit, her laning phase isn't as painful. Uh oh...
Indeed.

Tanky DPS is on the rise again. The Intel Extreme Masters showed that dual-AP is countered by Tanky DPS.

Zilean and Kog'Maw are also contributors to this, because Zilean is a direct counter to the dual-AP burst meta; while Kog'Maw relies on allies to protect him, and who better to protect him then tank champions with heavy CC?

AoE meta is also on the rise again.

Brand and Orianna are top-tier casters, both being very VERY heavy on AoE damage.
Other high-tier AoE champions include Amumu, Janna, Fiddlesticks, and Ashe with her volley/arrows.

Really liked this post. Replies in yellow text~

Solo Alistar? That's funny.

Support Alistar is the one that's really strong.

However, the nerf to his Ultimate is already substantial to his power. His heal doesn't need more nerfs, it's quite balanced.

not gonna lie Soraka's is kinda ****ed now, who thought that cutting the her heals in half and doubling the cd was a good idea? i understand that they want supports to get in the action more but come on u think a miniscule increase on infuse and a reworked starcall is gonna do that? and honeslty like nid needed a buffed kitty i mean ive gotten to lvl six and immedietly killed a half health malz with just a dorans ring. idk maybe im just ragin but i mean ffs i thought all healers were fine

@snacktime:

Soraka is viable now. That change on Infuse is not miniscule, it's a 42% increase in silences on the enemy FORTY-TWO PERCENT!

Starcall will make your magic-resist its b****.

Taric changes are pretty /facedesk

his heal was already a 16 second cooldown and healed for roughly 50-60 damage at rank one. And considering a lot of Taric players only get 1 rank in it at early levels to focus on Shatter it wasn't even a major issue in lane.

but what should we expect from riot these days
