Gimp must reduce the quality of images? Because that sig is just so clear and vibrant, great job. It's a shame you can see visibly see the outline of the sig box though - maybe if the whispy background was jagged somehow?
I tried using a few different fractals, this one came the closest to hiding itself XD I might be able to fix it, just in my web design class learning nothing new ATM so I'm screwing around..
And yes it would appear GIMP is unable to re-produce the HQ appearance that PS can. But for being free what GIMP offers is quite nice, PS could actually adopt a few things from GIMP and the user's QoL would be a lot better.
I'll try to mess around with the image in a bit.

I'm trying to find the effect that's doing it but I cant D:. XD I might be able to just do a simple lasso around invert delete to "tame" the C4D and TY ^_^. Your fractals/c4ds really help, next step is for me to L2 use the smudge effect in PS...I can do it just fine in GIMP though XD.

Kept some of it and blurred+smudged it, still shows on the background but it shouldn't bump up against the edge of the image.
I can still hust box tool it/ivert/delete too
