Well, but Guardian Angel works best with resists...

Not with HP.
He is gonna kill you!!!

The problem with building a LOT of health, and resistance, is that no matter how tough you are, enemies don't have to attack you. Shens main CC is a taunt, therefore you should be building armor.

Items that give health should also give utility, such as Randuins Omen, and Rylais, etc

I don`t play Shen, but I`d go
Mercs, Randuins, Rylais, Sunfire, FoN, and either Abyssal, or GA.
Exhaust, Flash summoners
Undecided on masteries :o

Maybe not perfect, but that's probably how I'd go if I had to play him

Warmogs takes care of your health problems in most situations, from then on its situation. It just gives you so much breathing room.
The battleroom is ready. Liqur's hands are steady. The enemy is deadly.

Well no actually that's not where I fail. See I never told you your build was bad. I even mentioned it was a strong build. The stats are high enough, and you can functionally tank with that. The utility is fine, although I don't see why you think you have so much more utility than I could have with my Warmogg's purchase. Sunfire doesn't bring much teamfight utility to the table either.

However, because I'm getting all my HP in one item, it frees up my inventory to buy items with even more utility.

I get 1370 HP in one Item. I can still buy 4 other items and boots. I can still buy Abyssal/FoN/Randuin's/GA/Sunfire/Rylai's/Zhonya's, anything I want, in whatever combination gives me the stats I'm looking for.

I could even build Frozen heart if I wanted (I probably wouldn't build that on Shen) and it would be better than the build Nick listed because I have HP to stretch the 99 armor and the AS Debuff over. GA working better off of resists than HP is a lie and you should punch whoever told you that in the kidney Nick :P Don't get too caught up in the passive of 750 HP. Don't forget that HP and resistances are aiming to accomplish the same goal- increase of durability and damage soak.

I can even build Trinity Force if I want, when using Warmogg's. Now I have a slowing proc on my auto attack and burst that synergizes with Ki Strike. Let's just theoretically say you wanted to Offtank Shen. Warmogg's, GA, Randuin's, FoN, Triforce.

4170 HP
239 Armor
188 MR

I don't need to detail all the utility one receives with Randuin's, FoN, Triforce, and GA.

The same build with Rylai's in the place of Triforce;

4400 HP
239 Armor
188 MR

Or perhaps a slightly different line up;

Warmogg's, Aegis, GA, Rylai's, Randuin's.

4698 HP
269 Armor
151 MR.

For the guys out there who like Abyssal on Shen;

Warmogg's, GA, Abyssal, Rylai's, Randuin's,

4428 HP
239 Armor
169 MR

Plenty of utility in that build as well. Just look through the items of all the builds. You can find lots of good utility.

In fact as a full tank, building Warmogg's is what allows you an extra item space for more utility. That's one of many reasons to buy Warmogg's on a full tank.

Now, the point is not to tell you "Nyahhh nyahhhh you guys suck, you don't know anything." That's not it, so please don't misunderstand.

The point is to show you that yeah, there's a better way. A clear-cut-and-dry, superior method in pretty much every way. Just look at the stats first, and take a second to really soak it in. There's almost a thousand extra HP on all of the builds that use Warmogg's, and the other stats are comparable. Then, look at the utility across the board. You can see that yeah, all of the above builds have great utility, Warmogg's is not causing the player to miss out on anything.

The reason I have to write a huge wall of text, is because I feel if I don't show case by case what the +'s and -'s are to each instance, then you guys are simply going to write it off without even considering it.

Warmogg's is a REAL tank item. If you don't want to believe it works, that's fine, but you're in denial of the facts.

I don't deny that the builds you guys posted work, but they aren't as tanky as the builds I posted, and they don't have much more utility in all honesty. They might have small points more or slightly different kinds but I'd comfortably say that it's not worth the sacrifice of over a thousand HP.

This is my logic, I'll leave it to you if you want to agree with it or not. Stat's don't lie however.

If your team is winning, having an iron tank makes tower diving a breeze. If your team is losing, having an iron tank is the only hope to salvage the game. Under all circumstances having the biggest tank possible is one of the more desirable things a team could ask for.

-End.

Hopefully this helped some players to realize why Warmogg's is such a great buy on tanky champions :)

Cheers.

I mainly replace Aegis with Warmog's because it provides so much more effective health to your team.

If My support or someone else on the team built Aegis, then yes, i would replace it with warmogs.

Warmog's is an amazing health item, but you probably shouldn't rush it just because it's not amazing in lane.

You are kind of forced to rush it though, because of how it's stacking mechanic works.
Tri lane for life.

You're not forced to rush it actually.

You can get the GA first if you like, compartmentalize, however you like to do it, because when it's complete it already gives 900 HP and that's plenty at that stage of the game ^^

Yeah and like I mentioned- Even if you get Aegis you can still get Warmogg's :P

My point was more this: I can't do a warmogs build, a tanky AP build and a super tank build at the same time.

Forgot about this statement.

Warmogg's, GA, Rylai's, Zhonya's, Abyssal.

4128 HP
214 Armor
169 MR
250 AP

Solid tank, nice amount of AP ^^ I'd like to see those number on a build without Warmogg's. :3
