14 months ago? well for starters i think since then they reduced surrender times.
i pretty much have the same mentality, where i'll try to play the game out as far as i can and its won me a few games because the enemy made a mistake later.
but yeah the general mentality is if you aren't winning surrender so you can get to the next game quicker because winning is all that maters.

@Nighthawk:
Agreed.
Although I love winning, the point of the game is to have fun. Most people I've spoken to about this (friends, teammates, opponents) have a similar opinion. We play this game, not to get as many wins as possible or to level up as soon as possible, but to have as much fun as possible.
If this game weren't so fun, I wouldn't be playing! And I had a recent 4-game loss streak with Nasus! Fun is better than winning.

It is almost always surrender, I don't get it. I wanna play a game to the end!

I am against asking for rep, only rep me if you think I contributed well or said something wise.

Playing to win, playing to have fun. I don't think is a good argument for how often people surrender. You saying that tournament players have no fun, they play the game to win, fun to them is not priority, they are wrong.
Just like everything in life, it's a matter of objectives. I come from Starcraft, in practice if you make a mistake like losing your initial scout too soon, delaying a worker for half a second, even a small thing, you would restart the game could be like a couple of minutes in even, the game is developed enough to say that the game is over at that point, that game as a practice experience is useless at that point. And I hope that something like that is developed for LoL, an instant restart feature, game save and reload so scenarios can be played over and over.
I don't remember the names but there are two types of games, games that you can make a comeback, games that you cannot make a comeback, In chess you can develop such a material advantage that you can get to a point in which you cannot lose, no matter what. In a fighting game you can always make a comeback, you just have do dodge/trick/whatever to avoid being hit. LoL can get to a point of no comebacks, this makes the Surrender option a learning tool in my opinion.
Now in our average game, I know that guy raging, spamming surrender probably is not thinking like this, the game is far, way far from that point, a lot of things hurt the development of LoL as a game like solo q ladder, wait on surrender, even the way professional teams practice is so inefficient, but hey LoL is young, let's give it time.
To answer your question, play arranged 5 and make sure your team shares the same objective as you.

Now, I try to avoid surrender at all costs. It takes away from the fun for the winning team, and who likes to have a great game cut short by an untimely surrender? Looking at my match history, I remember both of my last two wins ending in surrender, one when I was only 1/1/4. That game had at least 20 more minutes to go. I was pretty annoyed at this, as I was having a great time and I planned that to be my last game of the night. And it was cut brutally short, without time for another one to make up for it.
Am I the only one who feels this way? Too much giving up is degrading the game. I have seen amazing comebacks in my time playing LoL, and I know that a lot of the games have so much potential left when they are ended by unthoughtful players.
Is there a way we can stop this?
