Some are saying they will create a new mechanic to replace dodge.
Great!
I hope they do.
Give me my IP and I'll buy the new mechanic if I like it.
again....
if this was the case they would have to do this to every champion they rework because 'they might not play the way you want them to'

Thanks for the Signature MissMaw!

rework =/= replace = remove sth old and add sth new.
If they remove dodge it'll be replaced with a new mechanic that cant be used the same way, ergo you cant use it like you used dodge before. (IMO that Evasion skill in def tree seems most likely to be a possible replacement)
Its the same as buying Tryn and replacing him by Olaf later.
Similar, but not exactly the same. Maybe ppl wont like the new one/cant use it.
If dodge is going to be removed and they intend to remodel its runes into sth new, I also like a refund, since the main reason i got them was Jax.
I'm not jungling or full-tanking, so I guess whatever new is to come I wont have a use for it, even so I want to decide that myself.
If there was a champ that relies HEAVILY (more than Jax) on dodge, I'd have demanded a refund for him, too.

It won't be.
You'll get new runes.
Read the ToS: Riot is not obligated to give you what you want, just what is appropriate.
Plenty of stores have exchange policies, but don't give actual refunds. :P
"Appropriate" could be deemed as IP refunds, who are you to say different? If enough people make the request, I'm betting RIOT will listen. It's good business to give your customers what they want. (In most circumstances). Besides, giving us our IP back from the onset (without making us beg for it) would be the better descision. Presumeably a stat replacing dodge will cost the same amount of IP. IF we choose to buy the new runes cool, if we want to buy a character what does that matter? The best option from my perspective is to give the community the choice rather than give us a set of runes we may never use.
But who knows? I've been wrong before.

Riot doesn't refund players even after massive reworks, the same should be true for runes.
No.

it's not complete removal, it's a rework
No.

but if they are replacing it with a new mechanic/stat then it would be a rework, especially if it has defensive implications like dodge.
No.
Rework implies tweaking, and adjusting an already existing mechanic (In this case, Dodge). They are completely taking out Dodge, and putting in a completely new mechanic. Whatever the hell it actually is going to do, is not relevant. Not unless it's insanely similar to dodge, which it won't be, obviously. No "reworking" here. They are replacing.
@Mooninites
So... I assume you enjoy Nidalee, yes?
Let's make this more relevant to the thread, and say you had to spend 13530IP to purchase her. Quite a hefty price tag, no? Quite a lot of your IP invested into this champion, correct?
Next week, RIOT completely takes Nidalee out of the game. No more Nidalee for you, or anyone else for that matter. BUT IT'S OKAY. THEY'RE JUST "REWORKING" HER. You're compensated by them giving you the new and improved "Nidalee". Her name is Eve. Congratulations, you've just spent 13530IP on something you didn't want in the first place.
Make more sense now?
I don't have Dodge runes, but it'd be completely ridiculous if Riot didn't refund everyone who has bought them. They didn't spend all that IP on some unreleased mechanic. They spend it on DODGE. Give them their **** back, Riot. -.-
