So i started recently playing with an AD Carry for real, in this case Caitlyn. Now I took a look to a couple of her Builds and they always start with Doran's blade. My question is this: Why couldn't I go for a Zeal and BF without buying all the Doran's blade (like I was Tryndamere), when I play with a support like Sona (that grants me Heal and Life)? I know I would be a little more squishy, and maybe loose a bit of lasthits (without the AD Bonus), but I think is still possibile to do. I mean the Doran's blade stacking is to be more competitive vs players, maybe get a kill earlier in the game; but if I play a bit more defensive and start already with the main Build and going for an Attack Speed (tacking use of Cait. passive as soon as possibile) wouldn't that compense all this?

You generally don't have to buy Doran's blades. Except if you feel you need because you're losing the lane or you're getting harassed too much.

I personally buy one at the start, and then maybe more depending on my support and laning phase.

Berserker's Greaves and Bloodthirster are always rushed on Caitlyn... this is for a reason.

Straight AD early game is fantastic on her, and for her ult, and she gets all the early game AS she needs from her Greaves. The lifesteal also helps sustain.

Honestly, you COULD skip the Doran's Blade and go for Boots and 3 Health Potions, but only if you are not laning with a support. Other than that, Doran's Blade is the way to go.

Tryndamere can skip the Doran's Blade because of his sustain (especially with Vampiric Scepter when soloing top) - Cait cannot generally do this. His passive also gives him AD when he attacks which is why most Tryndamere's go straight for Berserker's Greaves and Zeal.

The stats that Doran's Blade gives are just perfect for everything on an AD carry. Health, damage and lifesteal is all incredibly useful and you get it all in one item.

Besides, what else are you going to buy? The only other start I'd even consider is Boots and Health Potions. It's not like you can start the game with a B. F. Sword or a Zeal, they're expensive.

Not by 90% of the Caitlyn guides on Mobafire. Almost all of them build Infinity Edge over Bloodthirster.

But most good players do after they get boots.

Mmmmno.

Not unless you haven't played or seen Caitlyn in the past 4 months.

Generally it's Boots 3 or 4 pots start, 2x Dorans blades, Vamp scepter, Berz greaves, and Infinity Edge.

Dorans blade is a better start for caitlyn imo. Else ur early game domination is not as powerful(i suppose u lane with a taric cuz, cmon u're caitlyn)... And that makes caitlyn very sad!

Ok I played yesterday as Caitlyn mid and skipped the Doran's Blade and stared with the Boots and potions. It was ok, and like u said, if you are without support, is a reasonable start. But then as my opponent stated to harass a bit more, I found myself not in a ideal pushing situation without a reasonable amount of Health, so that I had (after Zeal) I had to take a Phage. So now I get why people do the stacking: even if u can get that fast the real good Items (B.F. and others) , it gives you all you need to farm. Then when you get the money you can sell them, and go for the real stuff.
So actually testing the self by myself helped a lot :)

I've always felt like Caitlyn + support at bottom can be a terror early game, and rushing a few Doran's blades just makes it Terror x 10.

There's nothing more fun than dominating bottom lane with her ridiculous range because you don't hit like a wet noodle. Doran's is my anti-wet-noodle. In a way, Doran's is a very firm, uncooked noodle.

Tryndamere is a mid/late-game hero. Caitlyn is a early/semi-mid-game hero. Therefor if you don't deal as much damage and get some kills in early game, you're wasting Caitlyn's early game OPness just to get her stronger late game, which wouldn't help much cause Caitlyn's squishy anyways.
Conclusion; if you don't get fed early game, you wont get fed late game.
Just because I'm new in Mobafire. Does NOT mean I'm new in League Of Legends.
