The hybrid runes are slightly underbudget. I might however recommend flat AP quints, especially for early. They have the added benefit of helping with sustain. I have been looking into different masteries, but basically it comes down to getting the 21 point defense then getting whatever sounds good.

This build still under testing, its hard to get solo top Alistar games. Any feedback very welcome.

I would consider getting the 10% magic pen mastery. That balanced with the armor pen runes should give both your ap and ad some extra punch, though some of the new magic/armor pen runes would be nice. Though, I wonder if magic pen runes would be better since most of your early damage is probably from your spells and then then the 10% armor pen mastery to help you later in the game. All in all, looks like a fun build, have fun!

@ Nighthawk- I don't use avarice runes because the full build isn't needed to be super effect. Alistar's ult allows him to tank balanced teamfights without items relatively long into the game, and its tankiness that is the intent of most of the later purchases. He doesn't scale well with AD but he does scale well as a hybrid.

@Temzilla Attack speed Alistar wasn't giving me the burst I was hoping for, though Wit's End does look tempting. I have considered doing Madred's instead of Atma's but haven't seen a big difference either way, so I stuck with Atma's because it was cheaper. With the change to RoA from Warmog's I'll have to look at Madred's again, as well as possible just giving up on armor and building Hextech or something weird.

Have you tried

?

If you are building full tank alistar, Trinity and Atma's are misplaced.

If you are building Offtank alistar, why Atmas instead of GA? He doesn't scale well with AD.

I feel that bruiser is a good choice for him.

With how expensive this guide is I recommend full utility and avarice quints.

That MIGHT help you better but I wouldn't get triforce or something first...

I use the guide in ranked, typical win carrying a friend from 1000-1350 range. I don't use it in normals because it does take so long. However, with strong last hitting, I can usually have trinity force in 20 minutes and be able to wreck anyone on the map, which allows me to snowball the rest of the build fairly easily. MR isn't needed early as you can handle casters within your ult easily. If you want a 20 min surrender, there is a Pantheon IP farming guide somewhere on the site that is very helpful.

Thank you Naxen, it is a guide in progress. I thought I was further along with developing the build but then I tried out a lot of other item combinations and found I have a lot more to try out. Depending on how life goes I might just pull it off for a bit. I appreciate your feedback and hope you still found it helpful however.

This guide looks strange. My typical game ends before I can spend ~7K gold, in your guide it will finish on Trinity Force, maybe able to start Warmogs.

This means Ali al game with lvl1 boots, without any defensive and without any CDR item? And delay first MR item until 10K gold is spend?

I wish author included his ELO (or number of normal wins if still unranked) - that would be easier to understand level of typical opponents.

Also typical item set at ~20 min, which really important to force enemies surrender or prevent teammates from surrender.
From what I see it will be 3 gp5 items and sheen + phage = no slot for wards?

I'm not going to vote up or down but you need to add some pictures and color to this guide to make it more interesting to read. Because, I forced myself to read this guide all the way threw.
Secondly just make a chapter with it all summed up don't just have the entire guide simple and not complex if you need some ideas just go check out my guides.
Third this is actually the good part, I tried the guide out and it is very effective for solo top but for jungling alistar for me just doesn't work since your never had a map showing the jungling root, and the bot set up works well its just the jungling needs a bit of work.
Overall just work on more detail, picture, and color.
Check out the guide called How to Make a Guide to help its under recommended it can tell you how to set a good amount of your guide up effectively.
Good Luck!
